COLUMBIA - Laura Knoesel couldn’t hold back tears of joy as her son slid into home. Jack Knoesel, who just turned 11 this week and was starting for the first time in state tournament play, hit an inside-the-park home run, giving his team a 4-0 lead in the state championship game.

Missouri men’s basketball coach Mike Anderson and his staff hosted the Tigers annual Elite Camp Friday and Saturday. The first day of camp began with team stretching, and then the campers were split into six groups. Each group went to a station with an assistant coach and was taught some of basketball’s most fundamental lessons.

Four wheels and two sets of feet approach the batter’s box. Tyler Roberts takes the hand of his brother Trevor to share the grip on the red plastic bat. Trevor has cerebral palsy, but he’s about to hit a home run. With his brother guiding the bat, Trevor connects and sends the ball five feet on the foul side of the first baseline. But when the last batter of the inning hits, everyone is supposed to score. Tyler takes hold of the stroller and pushes toward first. John Henrikson slides into home, followed by Torie Boyles, who vaults across using arm braces.

The Daniel Boone National League All Stars from Columbia lost to Harney from South Dakota 2-1 at the Little League Baseball Midwest Regional Tournament on Tuesday. Daniel Boone National will be eliminated from the tournament if Harney defeats Hillside from Nebraska today.

The Daniel Boone National Division 13-14 year-old all-star baseball team won the Little League Junior Division state championship Monday in Higginsville. Daniel Boone National won with a 4-3 victory against McDonald County. Garrison McLagen ended the game by stealing home with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
