Video: The Shins: "Sleeping Lessons" (Live in Portland, Ore.)

I don't know much about this video, except that it was recorded at a rehearsal at Portland's Crystal Ballroom earlier this year, around the time Wincing the Night Away came out. But "Sleeping Lessons" is definitely one of that record's best songs, and the Shins rip through it pretty impressively here. And hey, both the sound and video quality are first-rate, so why not. There's something quite "Man on the Corner" about the whole thing, both in the music-- lead singer beginning alone over a moody synth backing-- and in the way his James Mercer's face is illuminated on the dark stage. There's no hiding place up there. No hiding place. For you.
