We all use computers in school and at home, but sometimes we overlook the other aspects of ICT in the lives of our pupils. Mobile phones are ubiquitous today, and most can take pictures and play mp3s. There are many opportunities to use these in teaching. Why not use your mobile to take a picture of pupil work and with Bluetooth transmit it to a projector to share it with the rest of the class or perhaps put together some podcasts for revision? What side of the divide are you on? 'Load up the podcast for tonight's homework' or 'Put that phone away' Have a look at the the BGFL Podcast pages or these examples for ideas.

Those of us involved with the ECDL qualification may not be aware that the British Computer Society, the sponsors of the qualification in the UK, is 50 years old this year. The society represents the more than one million workers in the ICT sector, as well as supporting ICT education and training at all levels.
