@choxorn - Feel free to link me to any images that you are using for your avatar so that I can incorporate them into my comics :). As well as any space vehicles that you use.

@CivGeneral: Just do Google Searches for "The Arbiter" "Scarab" "High Charity" etc. You'll find the pics I use on the first page or three.

I think I might be to blame for bringing TARDIS' into this whole crazy mess, given I did it as an excuse to be able to draw the Titanic. Bit disappointed I didn't get to finish that storyline, but ah well.

I still claim my TARDIS, but on the flip side I have always accepted that story (I forget by who) where I lost a leg. I miss it so :(

So first of all, Saddam is not working for me, and the TARDIS and Kwai are now gone, for now, as they're on a special mission that'll probably fail, so they'll not be used for a while. Just because it's a giant wooden horse does not mean it's going to be an invasion. It could have easily have just been a gift... and coincidentally it's a giant wooden horse...

the reason why choxorn's comic works is because i use the TARDIS to take him to a differnt dimension so he could have the fun of blowing it up (i helped)

(My sincerest apologies. I didn't mean my last comic to be so irrelevant. I actually intended to build up and follow the story, but while I was drawing it the thread got flooded with new stories and my comic kind of got outdated. I had to save at least some of it.) :sad:

Don't worry so much - I loved your comic, definitely among the best here. Actual hand-drawing/painting requires some time, which is why I normally quote the comic I'm responding to, so there's no confusion despite it appearing almost a day or so later.

I disagree. To fix DYOS people must mind their buisness. Also, if it wearn't for Stylesrj this thread would be dead by now. His posts always flare up controversy which keeps the fire burning. But like I said before- You are not being constructive, please by constructive.

Continuous controversy is getting tiresome. It's good that Stylesrj has the energy to post new stuff, but it makes sometimes the thread go way too fast for the guys who work with slower mediums than paint. Here's a short story for you all:

"Artist grabs a pencil and starts drawing a comic to continue the plot. When he's ready to post it, the story has already advanced way past the point where he intended to add his comic."

This is frustrating and it is one of the reasons why many artists that use traditional mediums have stopped posting here.

Okay guys, let me interject just once here so you guys can shut up and get back to posting.

Here are the solutions to all your problems:

1. Make less sucky comics.
Many comics here quite frankly suck. A sucky comic can be identified by the following characteristics:
A. obscene length: Short comics are better comics. Unless you're CurtSibling, noone cares to read more then a screen length or two of your comics.
B. me-and-my army syndrome: giving oneself an army just to attack some other person
C. Characters noone cares about, the absolute best characters in DYOS are CFCers, use them whenever possible. The next best thing is a small amount of coherant characters that are consistantly portrayed throughout all comics. CivG's OS-tans is a good example here. A wide range of constantly shifting characters suck, don't do that.
D. Plots noone cares about, make your plot about CFCers doing something, not you doing something. If you're off in your corner doing your own thing, your comic is just wasted space.

2. Deal with sucky comics properly
We'll never get rid of all sucky comics, so here's what we can do to make the best of the situation:
A. Ignore the comic, don't even comment, just move on.
B. Mock the comic with your own comic, but don't directly insult the person.

3. Plotline coherance:
I don't think this is as big a problem as some people think. Strict adherance to whatever plot is currently going on is impossible. If you see a good comic, respond by adding your own little twist too it. This may lead to a good arc, and if it doesn't, oh well. We don't need a good arc, just good humor. Oh and if you make a comic (especially one with actual artistic merit) that is better in your eyes then a conflicting comic posted while you were working on it, it post it anyways, and we'll sort it out!

4. Dealing with grievances properly (quit whining)
If you have a beef with someone PM them (politely!) instead of posting here. If you continue to have a beef that PMing them can't resolve, PM me with your problem, and I'll tell you where things stand.

5. If any of my rules can be violated because it would be massively funny:
DO IT DO IT DO IT
but remember, others may disagree.

NOW SHUT UP AND GET TO POSTING, AND DON'T REPLY TO THIS POST OUTSIDE OF PMS.

I'm really liking how this story is progressing. You, CivGeneral, Kan, Rheinmetall, Choxorn, Killfire and I all seem to be on the same plot line. This is a monumental occurrence in DYOS history!

I made them, but I cheated a little for making the people. I took a generic frame of a person, altered it, and colored it.

The vehicles were designed by be completely, using the people as guidelines for size.

BTW, the way I intend to use the guys: green is an officer (including me), red is a regular soldier, yellow is a support soldier (ex: vehicle driver), blue is a pilot...

Well if you ever get the time I suggest you make (the more difficult) diagonal versions of the men and trucks. Good work though on the ones you have.

Yeah, I'd guess so. I'm assuming your using the same software I am (MS Paint)? ;)

Well, I'm actually using the GIMP 2.0, but the tools I have used can all be found in Paint. It's just a bit easier in the GIMP.

I've played around with GIMP, but I'm far too familiar with MS Paint to switch, even if it has more features.

Well, it's a good discussion, seeing that we're not flaming each other...

Anyway, this plot is progressing! Imagine that! I'll see if I can make another piece soon, make a twist to the whole fight... that'll be tomorrow morning though.

EDIT: I'll be trying my hand at creating a tank, which should be good for these battles.

It's all done on computer. Last night I realized the coloring takes a huge amount of time. I'll simplify the coloring from now on. I'm still not happy how that last one turned out, but to get it ready I had to cut quite a few corners in detailing and coloring.

here is my attempt to get out of simple cut and paste comics and hopefully make my character more useful since I can now give him different emotions, oh and Kan, I decided to keep him with his u-boat uniform

Guys, the C+P machine destroyed by Kwai was the one that could work in a sandstorm. The original C+P machine is still online and active, Kwai just removed the one that could've posed a threat in the sandstorm (as CivGeneral said that the C+P Machine can't work in a sandstorm), but didn't have time to be buried...

EDIT: Captain2, I'm not sure, but is the use of curse words allowed in a comic?

I would request that everyone stick to a roughly 24-hour delay between their own comics. Believe me when I say it'll make the thread seem less cluttered by one person, and would be stunningly awesome for those of us who have to manually create our comics :)

I agree that we should limit everyone to one comic/day. It gives more time for everyone to put effort into their comics. In my opinion the DYOS needs quality, not quantity.

So why couldn't they use the rope to turn off the device? The plot thickens, and so will the kool-aid on the floor!

because I didn't need it to advance the plot at that time... and I've never tried it but i assume breaking glass with a rope would be hard

it's a complex story....

first we needed a way to get the rope up there, so we restarted the Kool aid by once again hitting the machine and we blocked one of the pipes using a complex mix of hair and scotch tape, then we released the pressure by poking the hairball out of the way and at the same time throwing one of the soldiers up in the air, he was caught by the pressurized burst of Kool aid and shot into the other pipe.

however our endeavour did not end there, he was quickly being washed out by the Kool Aid coming from the other pipe, he stabbed a knife into the side of the pipe, he had luckily hit a rusted patch in an otherwise fine pipe so he could hold on, we all stood helpless while our dear friend hung on for dear life. suddenly Soldier2 got an idea and kicked our hairball and hit the machine again turning it off.

Soldier1 then removed his knife from the pipe, put the rope over it and then pinned it with the knife in the same hole. out of nowhere a wizard came and made the knife invisible in an attempt to frighten our heroes out of climbing such a seemingly unstable rope.

The Wizard was actually an arch enemy of Captain, as Captain was responsible for thwarting his evil scheme to replace all CD's with William Shatner's album, however that kiddies is a story for another day

It's Star Wars Jedi Academy with various character add ons (Including the Ep III clone trooper that I am using as a futuristic Samurai outfit)
