Welcome to the "CROCHET MY FAVORITE AFGHAN" webpage of The Pumamouse Website. |
This is my favorite afghan pattern. Admittedly, it is my original design. However, all due respect to professional crochet pattern designers, I believe it is a winner. Its beauty lies in its simplicity, its versatility, and its practicality. Simplicity...it can be worked while watching television or listening to music or an old-time radio program because there is very little counting involved in its creation. Versatility...it can be worked using multiple colors or a solid color, depending on the effect which you are trying to achieve. Multiple colors will add interest and increase the stripe effect, while a solid color will make it appear downright classic. If multiple colors are desired, the stitch design makes for easily calculations. Also, various types of 4 ply yarn may be used to create different degrees of softness and added visual texture. Practicality...it is durable by design, meaning it washes well, and it does not have too many or too large openwork sections to get caught or snagged while it is being put to good use. Of course, any afghan makes a lovely gift, but this one can be made to favor nearly every taste, either gender, and any age. In short, this one is my favorite. I hope you will enjoy its creation as much as its use. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The following original crochet pattern is provided for your possible use with best wishes for many happy hours of handiwork and success from The Pumamouse (MaryAnne). Cut 300 pieces of 9” long yarn for fringe as follows: First: Cut 75 1 yard (36”) lengths of yarn. Then: Cut each length into 4 equal 9” pieces. The finished length of the fringe is approximately 4”. Finished Size: 48” x 72” before fringe. That’s a full 4’ x 6’ piece of snuggly warmth!
