'Hordes of the Things' Without Miniatures

Last year I developed and posted at the DBA Resource Page a set of "universal" counters for DBA. Nothing fancy compared to the recent PaintShop top-view drawings; however it has an advantage of being fairly generic so that one can easily compile ANY DBA army from a standard set, and it will not look too out of the epoch (details about design "philisophy" and process are available at the DBA Resource Page)

HOTT was logically the next step, and attached are a few .JPG images of the results:

Sheet 1 - Beasts, Behemoths, Artillery, Magicians, Strongholds

Sheet 2 - Dragons, Airboats

Sheet 3 - Riders, Knights, Paladins, Flyers, Gods, Clerics, Heroes

Sheet 4 - Spears, Blades

Sheet 5 - Shooters, Warband, Sneakers

Sheet 6 - Hordes, Lurkers, Water Lurkers

Should anyone be interested I can either send an electronic copy of the counter sheets (even though you need Lotus Freelance Millennium software to open it), or fax or mail printed sheets.

Here are a few images of HOTT counters "in action" (6 files):

File 1 - What a nasty surprise for the two pink Hordes who attempted to cross the river just to be met by a band of Water Lurkers there! And when the column of pink Sp tried to avoid the dangerous crossing and got into the woods, guess what happened? Two more Lurkers waiting for them there! No chance to take the stronghold in the coming bounds...

File 2 - A classical DBA match-up: a solid line of Bd against impetuous Wb, the difference being that Bd are led into combat by a Paladin element this time...

File 3 - The Cv line led by a Hero (in the middle) rushes forward to clash with a line of Bw anchored at the bad going on their left. Can be dangerous though, in particular since one of the Bw elements - with a star - is their General.

File 4 - A line of blue Beasts preparing to sacrifice themselves in the desperate attack on the terrible pink Dragon hiding between the woods and the river and supported by Art. Or should they first send forward a squad of Flyers to their rear?..

File 5 - An aerial attack! An Airboat and two Flyers smashing into the line of Sp trying to push them into the river... As in "real" fantasy life, the pink God is calmly following the battle from behind the river.

File 6 - Looks like an ambush? Two Behemoths (one General) overlapped and flanked by a bunch of Sneakers let by a Cleric, with a fair chance of a rear attack in the next bound as well. I don't know whether situations like that happen in a real HOTT battle, but it just looked good to imagine those two huge dinosaures (or mammoths for that matter) being so neatly overwhelmed by the little ones summonned by some kind of a pre-historic priest (I know Clerics are meant to represent an "ethical" religion, but why not something more "New Agey" for a change?..)
