Appointed captain of Wales by new coach Mike Ruddock at the start of the season and led them in seven games. Quit Wales for France after the collapse of the Celtic Warriors last summer and is in the Toulouse side that reached the final of the Heineken Cup. The third highest capped player in Welsh history, he is also his country’s leading try scorer with 35 in 83 Tests. Broke his thumb in the first half of the victory over France in the Six Nations and missed the final two games of the Grand Slam. Capped at centre, wing and full back. Marked his Wales debut with a hat-trick of tries in the World Cup win over Japan in 1995 and has now played in three cup campaigns.
