  • 06-Jan-2002: If you can read this, you successfully reached 2002. Happy New Year! New year means changes, even here. :-) The first one - a new poll. The second one - a new contest! Everyone is encouraged to take part. This time we are looking for a web site logo. Visit the contest page for more information and start your engines... errm... your Gimp!
Poll results (music styles preferred by our visitors): Rock in all its fashions - 23.9%, Electronica - 20%, Alternative - 8.6%, Classic - 5.7%, Rap/Hip-Hop - 4.5%, Soul/R'n'B - 4.5%, Oldies - 3.5%, Pop - 2.2%. 20.7% prefer several styles, 6.4% don't listen to music when using the holy Gimp. Stay tuned for more changes!

  • 17-Dec-2001: We've reached the magic 1000 images in the Gimp User Group galleries. That means that we can immediately stop this page, close the mailinglists and retire. Nah, just joking! The Gimp User Group will continue to strike you with the freshest bits of Gimp-related text and our members will (hopefully) continue to share their artwork with the rest of the world! Join today, just drop an e-mail to join@gimpforce.org!
  • 16-Nov-2001: A new poll! Tell us if there's a particular music style having major influence on your gimping or your artwork generally. The last poll revealed that cats dominate among pets (nearly 30%), followed by dogs (27%). A significant amount of GUG visitors (15%) prefers humans, 8% prefer stuffed pets (they don't bark @ night ;-)). Reptiles are kept by 4%, fishes by over 3%. Farm animals and birds got equally 2%, rodents less than 1% of votes given. About 7% of voters accept no compromises and hate all creatures. :-)
  • 14-Nov-2001: We've got a new tutorial! Check it out, it even features a chick. :-) Gimp 1.3.0 was released lately. It's a rewrite of the Gimp core and porting to GTK+ 1.3/2.0, so don't expect any new features but piles of bugs and sleepless nights. Anyway, everybody willing to help the developers, get it and hack it! FTP
  • 09-Nov-2001: Looks like Gimp 1.2.3 is coming nearer. Go get the pre2 version if you can't wait any longer and want to help developers debugging the Gimp. Download

Only about 5% solely use scanning extensions. 23% of GUG visitors use all kinds of extensions, 4% create own stuff and 3% use extensions not mentioned in the poll. The new poll is less sophisticated, go voting and enjoy the summer! :-)
