Steps:
Cutting notes: Each 'fabric group' is stacked (figure A), trimmed and cut through all layers at once as follows (figure B). Flower fabric (cut three layers): Cut strips 2-1/4 inches wide on the long grain. From these strips cut the following pieces 12 times (through three layers = 36 pieces each). F: 2-1/4" x 4-3/4" D: 2-1/4" x 3" H: 2-1/4" x 2-1/4".

Green fabrics (cut three layers): Cut strips 2-1/4 inches wide on the long grain. From these strips cut G: 2-1/4" x 4-3/4" 24 times (through three layers = 72 pieces, two per block).

Light fabrics (cut six layers): Cut six strips 2-1/4 inches wide on the long grain. From these strips cut the following:
E: 2-1/4" x 2-1/4" 36 times (through six layers = 216 pieces, six per block).
*Filler blocks: 2-1/4" x 6-1/2" once (= six pieces used as 'row extensions').
Cut two strips 1-1/2 inches wide. From these cut the following:
C: 1-1/2" x 3" six times (= 36 pieces)
B: 1-1/2" x 2" six times (= 36 pieces)

Yellow fabric: A: Cut 36, two inch squares.

Block Assembly
1. Chain piece two-inch yellow squares (A) (figure C) and 1-1/2" x 2" light rectangles (B) (36 times) using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Snip apart and press. Stack them with the yellow square to the top, light rectangle to the bottom.

2. Add the 1 1/2" x 3" light rectangle (C) to the right hand side on all pieces (figure D). Set aside.

Figure F
3. Make the 'Flower Points' using the full square method. Place 2-1/4" x 3" red rectangles (D) horizontally. Place a light 2-1/4" square (E), right sides together on the right hand side (figure E). Draw a diagonal line (figure F) from upper left to lower right, (or 'finger press' a crease. Stitch on the line. Trim excess and press. Repeat 36 times.

4. Join these to the previously set aside Yellow center units (See block for placement).

5. Make 36 'Flower Points' with 2-1/4" x 4-3/4" rectangles (F) and light squares (E) as follows:
Place rectangles vertically. Place light square right sides together on bottom. Draw or press a diagonal from upper left corner of square to lower right. Stitch, trim and press. Stack previously completed sections with the 'flower point' toward the top. Join these newly completed sections to the left-hand side with a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Press.

6. Leaf Units - Complete 36, and 36 reversed. Using the same 'whole square method', add light squares (E) to each end of the 2-1/4" x 4-3/4" green rectangles (G) (figure G). Sew 36 in each direction (diagonals to left for one set, diagonals to the right for the other). Trim and press.

7. Position leaf units on either side of flower block making certain they are in the proper position (leaf edge touches flower and points outward) (figure H). Chain piece one of the leaf sets to the flower block. Add the red 2-1/4-inch square (H) to the proper end of the other leaf blocks, then join to complete.

Figure I
Quilt Assembly
Row 1 - Join six blocks with the flower pointing downward J (figure I), and to the left. Add a light 2-1/4" x 6-1/2" rectangle to the bottom of that row.

Row 2 - Join six blocks with the flower pointing downward, and to the right. Add a light rectangle to the top of the row.
Repeat these two rows two more times to complete the quilt top.

Adding Borders
Cut four borders 6-1/2 or 7 inches wide from the lengthwise grain. Add side borders, then top and bottom to complete.
