Borealis Star   Aurora Borealis
The Marching Dons will complete their marching season with an appearance on December 1st, in the Pleasanton Hometown Holiday Parade on Main Street, which begins at 5:30 pm.

The Amador Valley High School Marching Band and Colorguard, senior class of 2008, with band director Jonathan Grantham.

The Amador Valley Marching Band and Colorguard have much to celebrate.  In two consecutive weekends, the Marching Dons captured fourth place awards in Final Competitions at the Bands of America (BOA) Regional Championships on November 10th, and then one week later, fifth place at the Western Band Association (WBA) Grand Championships.  Both events were held at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, CA.

In both competitions, the Dons had to first qualify for the Finals Competition by placing among the best bands in a Preliminary Competition.  In Finals Competition at BOA, Amador jumped up three places over their finish in 2006, and at WBA, they bested their 2006 finish by one place, and placed their highest overall scores in school history for this division.

There are fifty seniors, graduating in 2008, who are part of this corps of 220 members.  As part of the WBA weekend, the seniors were congratulated with a sit-down, festive dinner, specially presented by their parents and the Amador Friends of Music.  Each senior was ceremoniously pinned with a yellow rose, later worn in competition.

The senior members of the Amador High School Marching Band and Colorguard are:
Bayley Adams, Sarah Andersson, Carmen Azcona, Anthony Braun, Austin Carolo, Thomas Cayton, Sarah Chan, Tarryn Cooper, Katarina Crown, Mia D'Albora, Ryan Deeds, Jake Deschamps, Kathryn Dowdy, Brennen Duck, Sophia Dunworth, Trent Ellingsen, Karissa Finn, David Fischer, Olivia Garrett, Chris Gatehouse, Max Giammona, Effie Gonis, Tina Hank, Elisabeth Harford, Haoming Huang, Michelle Jones, Alex Kato, Katherine Kelly, Ned Kovach, Glenn Laursen, Teresa Machado, Eric Miller, Erica Miranda, Brianna Morrison, Matthew Nylander, Christina Olsen, John Palowitch, Ethan Papp, Lindyn Roush, Anthony Sanchez, Tony Sangiacomo, Kurt Schmidt, Christina Takahashi, Gus Tjernagel, Alan Wang, Claire Wei, Curtis Wong, Nicholas Wong, Patrick Wong and Denis Wu.

The 2007 Amador field show is entitled "Aurora Borealis," inspired by the spectacular celestial light shows of northern skies.  The original music, by John Meehan and John Mapes, is presented in three movements: Sky Fires, The Heavens, and A Vengeful Force.  The Director of the Amador Valley Marching Band and Colorguard is Jonathan Grantham.  The Drum Majors are Anthony Sanchez, Allison Gehl and Ben Donlon; the Guard Captains are Kate Dowdy and Rachel Silva.
