What made America great was her ability to transform her own dream into hope for all mankind.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The men and women of my generation heard their grandparents talk about how in 1917, America saved France at a time when it had reached the final limits of its strength, which it had exhausted in the most absurd and bloodiest of wars.

The men and women of my generation heard their parents talk about how in 1944, America returned to free Europe from the horrifying tyranny that threatened to enslave it.

Fathers took their sons to see the vast cemeteries where, under thousands of white crosses so far from home, thousands of young American soldiers lay who had fallen not to defend their own freedom but the freedom of all others, not to defend their own families, their own homeland, but to defend humanity as a whole.

Fathers took their sons to the beaches where the young men of America had so heroically landed. They read them the admirable letters of farewell that those 20-year-old soldiers had written to their families before the battle to tell them: “We don’t consider ourselves heroes. We want this war to be over. But however much dread we may feel, you can count on us.” Before they landed, Eisenhower told them: “The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you.”

And as they listened to their fathers, watched movies, read history books and the letters of soldiers who died on the beaches of Normandy and Provence, as they visited the cemeteries where the star-spangled banner flies, the children of my generation understood that these young Americans, 20 years old, were true heroes to whom they owed the fact that they were free people and not slaves. France will never forget the sacrifice of your children.

To those 20-year-old heroes who gave us everything, to the families of those who never returned, to the children who mourned fathers they barely got a chance to know, I want to express France’s eternal gratitude.

On behalf of my generation, which did not experience war but knows how much it owes to their courage and their sacrifice; on behalf of our children, who must never forget; to all the veterans who are here today and, notably the seven I had the honor to decorate yesterday evening, one of whom, Senator Inouye, belongs to your Congress, I want to express the deep, sincere gratitude of the French people. I want to tell you that whenever an American soldier falls somewhere in the world, I think of what the American army did for France. I think of them and I am sad, as one is sad to lose a member of one’s family.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The men and women of my generation remember the Marshall Plan that allowed their fathers to rebuild a devastated Europe. They remember the Cold War, during which America again stood as the bulwark of the Free World against the threat of new tyranny.

I remember the Berlin crisis and Kennedy who unhesitatingly risked engaging the United States in the most destructive of wars so that Europe could preserve the freedom for which the American people had already sacrificed so much. No one has the right to forget. Forgetting, for a person of my generation, would be tantamount to self-denial.

But my generation did not love America only because she had defended freedom. We also loved her because for us, she embodied what was most audacious about the human adventure; for us, she embodied the spirit of conquest. We loved America because for us, America was a new frontier that was continuously pushed back—a constantly renewed challenge to the inventiveness of the human spirit.

My generation shared all the American dreams. Our imaginations were fueled by the winning of the West and Hollywood. By Elvis Presley, Duke Ellington, Hemingway. By John Wayne, Charlton Heston, Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth. And by Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins, fulfilling mankind’s oldest dream.

What was so extraordinary for us was that through her literature, her cinema and her music, America always seemed to emerge from adversity even greater and stronger; that instead of causing America to doubt herself, such ordeals only strengthened her belief in her values.

What makes America strong is the strength of this ideal that is shared by all Americans and by all those who love her because they love freedom.

America’s strength is not only a material strength, it is first and foremost a spiritual and moral strength. No one expressed this better than a black pastor who asked just one thing of America: that she be true to the ideal in whose name he—the grandson of a slave—felt so deeply American. His name was Martin Luther King. He made America a universal role model.

The world still remembers his words—words of love, dignity and justice. America heard those words and America changed. And the men and women who had doubted America because they no longer recognized her began loving her again.

Fundamentally, what are those who love America asking of her, if not to remain forever true to her founding values?

French President Nicolas Sarkozy received an award Wednesday from the American Jewish Committee and declared his full support for the security and integrity of the State of Israel, which, he said, should be guaranteed by international agreement. Sarkozy also said, "If we want to fight anti-Semitism, the first thing is to refuse to play it down....Racism, anti-Semitism, these are such hateful beasts that the first reaction of a democratic society is to deny it, to say it doesn't exist. But unless you agree on the diagnosis, then you cannot find the remedies to fight the source of the problem....When you try to explain the inexplicable, then you are about to forgive the unforgivable." The French president also reiterated his view that Iran should not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons. (New York Sun)

Paris in NY: Karsenty, Man of the Hour

Glorious evening spent with the  fearless champion of truth and accuracy, Philippe Karsenty. He unveiled the staged blood libel, Al Dura, against the Jews and would not give up until those responsible gave themselves up. But they didn't, of course. The jihad loving media went the opposite way, even going so far as to sue Philippe. The Drefyus Affair redux. He became the object of scorn and derision, professionally and personally.

He has been vindicated. He brought the French media to its knees and set off a series of events that strips the media of its unearned respect, its objectivity. In this Karsenty is an historical figure. He changed the dynamic of assumed media credibility. No longer will the good folks think that what they are seeing or reading is actually accurate. The more that's revealed, the more revolted and shocked the folks will be upon seeing the rotting under belly of the jihad loving media machine.

It is increasingly clear, that this diabolical staging was contrived, deliberate - an incitement to war by French media. I expect such evil from the Palis, but such complicity by the media is unfathomable.

I am working on a presentation with him to run on Atlas. The evidence is staggering.

Islamic Death Threats: Hiding Good People

This continues because we are unwilling and unable to stand up to the evil that rips to bloody shreds the very fabric of   our civilization. Islamism must be beaten back like  the malevolent invader and enemy that it is.

Swedish Police Hide Threatened Cartoonist (Post, September 18, 2007; Page A16)

STOCKHOLM, Sept. 17 -- A Swedish cartoonist who depicted the prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog said Monday that police have taken him to a secret location and told him he cannot return home because of a death threat from insurgents in Iraq.

Lars Vilks, who was whisked away by police when he returned to Sweden from Germany on Sunday, said authorities have described the threats against him as "very serious."

"Police guard was nonexistent before this. It's 100 percent now," Vilks said in a telephone interview. "I can't live in my home."

Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, leader of the Islamic State of Iraq, a Sunni insurgent umbrella organization believed to have been created by al-Qaeda in Iraq, offered $100,000 over the weekend for Vilks's murder. Al-Baghdadi said the bounty would be upped to $150,000 if Vilks was "slaughtered like a lamb," and he offered $50,000 for the killing of the editor of a newspaper that reprinted the cartoon last month after Swedish art galleries refused to exhibit it.

"We are calling for the assassination of cartoonist Lars Vilks who dared insult our Prophet," al-Baghdadi said, according to transcripts of Islamic Web sites, "and we announce a reward during this generous month of Ramadan."

Screw the prophet. We are tired of your moral illness. WTF is wrong with everyone? This unacceptble.

Atlas Banned in Charlotte, NC

Badge of honor, folks, badge of honor. In the parallel universe of inverted language, saving the free world,  fighting oppression, and fascism, now translates into "Violence/Hate/Racism." Jim of BTWA writes;

A few weeks ago I posted a message alerting folks to anti-semitism     among muslim cab drivers in Charlotte...     nothing has changed.

More to the point, I became frustrated and went to Hertz Car Rental (adorned with Kippah) to get a car. The first car they gave me was filled with fire ants and I didn't drive it out of their facility. The replacement car was filled with ants, too, however the ants didn't emerge until a few miles outside the Rental Car Facility when I turned     on the air conditioning and they blew into my face.

The third car they gave me was a Ford Taurus with faulty brakes and engine problems so profound as to represent a hazard to renters and other drivers. I returned the vehicle after going to Gleiberman's Deli to pick up Kosher. Strangely, according to the Hertz Site Manager, I was the only person to complain about such things.

This morning, as I sit in Charlotte/Douglas Airport, I discover that the following web sites are banned at the Airport by their SonicWall firewall:

CBS COWARDS CAVE TO CAIR on KELLER

Islamists (and the left's useful idiots) are now firmly in control of the  national conversation. CBS cowered to CAIR's bullying like white livered, gutless worms. CAIR EMAIL ALERT:

CAIR: FLORIDA TV STATION DROPS ANTI-ISLAM PROGRAM

(TAMPA, FL, 8/24/07) €“ The Tampa chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Tampa) announced today that a local television station has dropped a program that promoted hatred of Islam and Muslims.

Uh oh, Keller must have recited passages from the Koran.

CAIR-Tampa said WTOG-TV (CW 44) dropped “Live Prayer with Bill Keller” after the station and its parent company CBS received a letter from and had discussions with the Islamic civil rights and advocacy group.

Keller told the St. Petersburg Times: "Ultimately, it was pressure by CAIR that intimidated these people into taking me off the air. It was not mutually agreeable. They told me they were taking me off the air, period."

The controversial late-night Christian talk show host, known for his biting criticism of religious, political and pop culture figures, is going off the air. Keller, 49, says he ran afoul of the Tampa Chapter of the Council of American Islamic Relations. The group calls Live Prayer with Bill Keller a hate-filled broadcast that damages Muslims and Islam.

It aint Keller that "damages Muslims and Islam" - it's the dogma and violent war its declared on the West.

Earlier this month, CAIR asked CBS executives to remove Keller's nightly talk show from WTOG-TV Ch. 44, a CBS-owned station that airs the CW network locally. The group was upset about a spate of recent broadcasts by Keller that disparaged Islam and the prophet Mohammad.

They are upset about freedom of speech? America is upset that they fund Islamic jiahd and have terror ties to hezbollah.

CAIR's leaders say both local and network representatives assured them that the program would no longer air on the station after Sept. 11. WTOG station manager Laura Caruso said the decision to end Keller's contract was a mutual decision and had nothing to do with complaints from individuals or groups.

Dhimmi liar can't even stand up for their stand against Keller.

Keller disagrees.

He confirmed today that his show will no longer air after Aug. 31. But he cites CAIR's complaints as the primary reason for his departure, saying he had no desire to leave the station that has broadcast his program weekdays from 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. for nearly five years.

PAUL WILLIAMS:THE SAVAGING OF SAVAGE

Raw, right, real truth teller - Michael Savage is under attack. The leftist/Islamic terror-aligned force is trying to silence him. This is their MO - silence the truth tellers. Extinguish truth. Why not take that same money and bus them back to their country of origin? Savage is not against immigration, he's against illegals and illegal criminals in particular. Illegal violent crime is rampant. The leftards failed. Hate crimes legislation? Cair and the leftist/islamic alliance will use hate crime legislation to shut down free speech.

AMERICAN JOURNALIST COMMITS FLAGRANT HATE CRIME

Gerardo Sandoval, I hate you!

I hate you and many of your fellow San Francisco supervisors not only because you are smug and anti-American but also because you are corrupt and evil.

Because I hate you, I am by your standards guilty of a hate crime and I must be punished by civil suit or a stay in the slammer.

Still and all, this does not alter the fact that I hold you and your mojado loving buddies in complete and utter contempt.

Why do I spew such hatred?

Consider the following:

Gerardo introduced a resolution to silence news commentator and talk show host Michael Savage for exercising his constitutional rights as an American and a journalist by decrying the problem of illegal immigration. According to this boneheaded public official, anyone who decries the porous situation at the southern border is guilty ipso facto of vilifying Latin Americans.

According to smiling sombrero Sandoval, if you say that illegals should be shipped back to Mexico or placed in a detention facility, you should be dragged into court and charged with sedition. "Don't fool yourselves," Sandoval said, while calling for the silencing of Savage. "This kind of speech (speech calling for the sealing of our borders) just incites behavior that is nothing short of hysteria. It's the kind of hysterical behavior we saw in Nazi Germany 60 years ago."

By likening Dr. Savage to a Nazi, Sandoval shows that he should be hoisted on his own petard.

• Sandoval supported a resolution commending the administration of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and his "commitment to democracy." If you are not outraged by this resolution, which was adopted by the Board of Supervisors, you are probably unaware that Chavez in the wake of 9/11 allegedly awarded al Qaeda a gift of $1 million and has traveled throughout the Middle East to voice his support for the jihad.

As proof of his corruption, sombrero Sandoval paid Amy Harryton, his wife, $10,000 from campaign funds that were raised for his unsuccessful bid to become San Francisco's accessor/recorder.

Well, sombrero, I, too, am "hysterical" about the situation at the border and the fact that 4,000 poor, uneducated, and illiterate Latinos - - enough to fill 60 commercial jumbo jetliners - - arrive here every day. I, too, am concerned that many of these newcomers are not here to work, let alone to improve our standard of living, but rather to prey upon our entitlement programs. To support this claim, I submit the following:

• Only 25 percent of the illegal alien women between the ages of 25 to 44 are in the labor force, compared to 76 percent of native American women. The rest are dumping anchor babies and living the good life on the public dole.
• More than 43% of all Food Stamps issued are to illegal aliens.
• More than 41% of all unemployment checks in the United States are issued to illegal aliens.
• 58% of all welfare payments in the United States are issued to illegal aliens.
• Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties in the United States are illegal aliens.
• The lifetime fiscal impact (taxes paid minus services used) for the average adult Mexican illegal alien on the average American is $55,000 over a five-year span. You personally are shelling out $11,000 every year to every lawbreaker who crosses over the Rio Grande.
• And the cost is not the half of it. These new barbarians have created a crime wave throughout the South West. And their crimes are not petty. They include murder, rape, drug-dealing, gun running, abduction, child molestation, and trafficking in human body parts. Presently, 30% of the inmates in federal prison are illegal immigrants from south of the border. This horde of aliens represents the fastest growing segment of the prison population. How bad are these muchachos? Chew on these facts:
• 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.
• 83% of warrants for murder in Phoenix are for illegal aliens.
• 86% of warrants for murder in Albuquerque are for illegal aliens.
• 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Albuquerque are illegal aliens.
• More than 71% of all apprehended cars stolen in 2005 in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and California were stolen by illegal aliens or transport "coyotes."
• 47% of cited/stopped drivers in California have no license, no insurance, and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 47%, 92% are illegal aliens.
• 63% of cited/stopped drivers in Arizona have no license, no insurance, and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 63%, 97% are illegal aliens.
• 66% of cited/stopped drivers in New Mexico have no license, no insurance, and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 66%, 98% are illegal aliens.
• More than 53% of all investigated burglaries reported in California, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas are perpetrated by illegal aliens.
• More than half of all gang members in Los Angeles are illegal aliens from south of the border.

What's more the legal and illegal immigrants do not come alone! Many enter with Hepatitis A, B, & C, tuberculosis, syphilis, and gonorrhea, even such Third World diseases as dengue fever, leprosy, and Chagas Disease. Chagas is a nasty parasite common to Latin America where the bellies of 18 million people carry the bug and where the pesky microscopic critter manages to kill over 50,000 every year.

These facts, according to sombrero Sandoval, should not be aired since they vilify Latin Americans. The truth, for the sake of multiculturalism and globalism, must not be told. And Dr. Savage must be silenced.

The fact that Sandoval and his accomplices almost got their way and that Savage was saved from censure and a major legal hassle by a single vote must be a matter of grave concern to all freedom loving Americans and should alert us that our basic rights, thanks to elected officials like Sandoval, are now in jeopardy.

The attempt to silence Dr. Savage is the beginning of a struggle that will not end until newspeak is the order of the day and the North American Alliance a political and economic entity.

As an individual who is being sued for telling the truth about radical Islam and the threat from jihadis north of the border, I express my utter contempt for San Francisco's Board of Supervisors, save for the lone sane voice of Ed Jew.

Gerardo Sandoval, in my humble opinion, should be crushed (metaphorically, of course) like a bug.

SAUDIS SUE FOR SECRECY RACHEL EHRENFELD NY Post hat tip Jan

August 8, 2007 -- THE Saudis' efforts to keep a veil of secrecy over their sup port for al Qaeda and Hamas got a shot in the arm last week, as a British publisher opted to suppress a controversial book on the financing of terror.

Facing the mere threat of a lawsuit from Saudi billionaire Khalid bin Mahfouz, Cambridge University Press agreed to pulp all the unsold copies of "Alms of Jihad: Charity and Terrorism in the Islamic World," issue a public apology to Mahfouz and pay his legal expenses and substantial undisclosed damages.

The prestigious publisher - the world's oldest publishing house - had carefully vetted the book before publishing it last year. Yet now it has asked more than 200 libraries worldwide to pull the work off their shelves.

Bin Mahfouz never sued the authors, J. Millard Burr and Robert O. Collins, both U.S. citizens, who had provided their publisher with all the sources to back their allegations that bin Mahfouz, his family and his former bank, the National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia, funded Hamas and al Qaeda. Yet Cambridge University Press still caved - and even asked the authors to join its apology to bin Mahfouz. (They rightly refused.)

Since March 2002, bin Mahfouz has sued or threatened suit in England at least 36 times against those who've linked him to terrorism, including many American authors and publications. Everyone settled with bin Mahfouz - except me.

He sued me in London in January 2004, shortly after my book "Funding Evil: How Terrorism is Financed - and How to Stop It" was published in the United States. I refused to acknowledge a British court's jurisdiction over a book published here; the court then ruled in bin Mahfouz's favor by default. It enjoined British publication of "Funding Evil," awarded bin Mahfouz $225,900 in damages and expenses and ordered that I publicly apologize and destroy the book. I still refuse to acknowledge the British Court and its ruling.

The data in both "Alms for Jihad" and "Funding Evil" is all well-documented by the media and the U.S. Congress, courts, Treasury Department and other official statements. Further corroboration comes from French intelligence officials at the General Directorate of External Security (DGSE), as reported in the French daily, Le Monde. For example, the DGSE reported that, in 1998, it knew bin Mahfouz to be an architect of the banking scheme built to benefit Osama bin Laden, and that both U.S. and British intelligence services knew it, too.

I spoke at the Young Americas Conference this past Spring and I can tell you there isn't a finer group of young people. Reagan's favorite organization is under fire from America's most dangerous organization, CAIR. Using, yet again the litigation jihad, they threaten YAF with this threat a day before Robert Spencer was scheduled to speak,“Our clients have instructed us to pursue every available and appropriate legal remedy to redress any false and defamatory statements that are made at the session.” All because Spencer was going to speak.

"Welcome to the address that the Council on American Islamic Relations does not want you to hear," Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch said Thursday, opening a speech to the Young America's Foundation that yesterday demanding "that YAF cancel the subject session.

The Washington Times obtained a text of Mr. Spencer's speech, excerpts of which follow:

It is a common tactic of both the Left and the Islamic advocacy groups in America: to accuse every critic of purveying hatred and bigotry. But I am not intimidated by their threats, or troubled by their smears -- because I know I do not advocate hatred and bigotry, but a realistic appraisal of the Islamic jihad threat. ...

Look at the threatening letter CAIR's lawyers, Sandler, Reiff and Young, sent to the YAF about this very talk. This is just the latest example of a larger attempt to silence critics and those who say things about Islam and jihad that they don't like. Look at the campaigns of intimidation that CAIR has carried out against Paul Harvey, the producers of Fox's "24,' National Review magazine, and others who have said things CAIR doesn't like. ...

This campaign of intimidation has had its effect. Many mainstream media figures, even those who think of themselves as fearless conservatives, have not wanted to discuss the elements of Islam that jihadists use to justify their actions. ... They fear the wrath of CAIR. ...

If CAIR succeeds in smearing and silencing all those who dare to speak about the elements of Islam that jihadists use to justify their actions, and who dare to call upon CAIR itself and other groups to go beyond vaguely-worded condemnations of terrorism to real efforts to teach against the jihad ideology in schools and mosques, what chance do we have to resist the spread of that ideology? ...

And so I conclude today by asking the CAIR officials ... to set aside the weapons of legal threats and intimidation, and the reckless purveying of personal smears and defamation, and enter into a genuine public discussion of the material I have presented here. ... Let's have a dialogue, or a debate, whenever and wherever you say. Or you can sue me now, or sue the YAF, and try to silence me. But you won't be able to sue or silence all the American people who are deeply concerned about what you are doing. ...

n a brief interview with reporters before his speech to YAF's national student conference, Mr. Spencer was asked what he hoped students would get from his speech. "I would hope that they would understand that not everything is what it appears to be," Mr. Spencer said, saying that CAIR has "twisted" civil rights rhetoric in order to "advance their agenda."

This is CAIR. Strong arming and bullying the truth tellers into silence. Joel Mowbray writes here;

Although YAF, which is the nation’s largest conservative group catering to high school and college students, is used to campus leftists attempting to silence the right-wing speakers it helps sponsor, the apparent lawsuit threat likely came as a shock.

The attempted bullying, however, comes as little surprise to anyone familiar with the organization behind the move: CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

For years, CAIR has attempted to stifle debate and prevent inquiry into the domestic spread of radical Islam. Conservative columnist Cal Thomas was the latest target, when CAIR attempted to drum him out of his role as an official commentator at WTOP radio in Washington, D.C. The group was emboldened by its success in the same city two years earlier, when it got then-Disney-owned WMAL to can talk host Michael Graham. Similar such smear campaigns are legion.

If only CAIR could muster the same contempt—or any contempt, for that matter—for Islamic terrorists.

Contrary to the letter’s claim that the group “has consistently taken a principled position against terrorism and extremism,” CAIR simply has not done so. Never has CAIR condemned by name Islamic terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah. Given the opportunity to condemn Hamas by Newsweek last December, CAIR executive director and co-founder Nihad Awad refused, claiming that the question was “the game of the pro-Israel lobby.”

While CAIR incessantly hypes its 2005 fatwa against terrorism and extremism, the document intentionally avoided defining the two terms. Fundamentalist Muslims who wish harm upon the U.S. and Israel do not consider themselves “extreme.” Nor do Hezbollah and Hamas believe that they are terrorists.

This is CAIR’s modus operandi: appearing to oppose terrorism, while simultaneously leading the charge against those who actually seek to thwart it.

Its approach to the lecture circuit is no different.

I mentioned earlier on my show that Atlas Shrugs has been banned in the UK and the EU according to Pim's Ghost. Stranger still, the number of visits to this site generated by google search have all but disappeared in the past couple of days. I am talking 3-4,000 hits a day to virtually nothing. I have been vexed by this. One of my readers just sent this;

I began getting the emails several days ago: Jihad Watch readers telling me that they had been accustomed to reading the site at work, but now their employer had blocked access to the Jihad Watch site on company computers. Many reported that the ban on Jihad Watch was explained with the assertion that Jihad Watch contained “hate speech.” This was true even in Federal Government offices. And it wasn’t only the Feds. Jihad Watch was blocked, readers informed me, on the computers of the State of Connecticut; the City of Chicago; Bank of America; Fidelity Investments; Site Coach; GE IT; JPMorgan Chase; Defense Finance and Accounting Services; Johnson Controls, Inc. IT; Boeing; Tenet Hospitals in North Carolina; Provisio; the Sabre Group TSG; Wachovia bank; and others: several people have written in to tell me that as of this week they can no longer access Jihad Watch at work, but haven’t told me where they work.

'Executions of cell phone users up in N. Korea' J Post aht tip EJO

North Korea has increased its public executions against cell phone users and those who circulate outside information in the communist country, a South Korean government think tank said Thursday.

The phenomenon of executions of those who "circulate South Korean leaflets and sell videos and use cell phones are on the rise," the South's government-affiliated Korea Institute for National Unification think tank said in a white paper on the North's human rights conditions. No exact figures were given.

North Koreans are officially banned from communicating with the outside world but some of them listen to foreign news and use cell phones through Chinese communication networks, according to North Korean defectors in South Korea. The use of cell phones in North Korea is banned though some are smuggled into the North by Chinese who have links with South Koreans. Full article here.

         The David Project has announced that the Islamic Society of Boston ("ISB") and its officers have withdrawn all of their claims against all of the citizens who raised concerns about the ISB, its funding and its leadership, as well as all of their claims against the Boston Herald, Fox-TV and the various journalists whose investigative pieces about the ISB in 2003 and 2004 disclosed damaging information about the ISB and its controversial land deal with the Boston Redevelopment Authority ("BRA"). The ISB and its officers have abandoned all of their claims against all of the defendants they sued 2 years ago, without payment to the ISB or to any of its officers of any money whatsoever.

     The ISB's decision to drop all of its claims against all of the 17 defendants it sued back in 2005 alleging "defamation" and accusing them of conspiring to violate its civil rights comes just months after the defendants--who included a Muslim cleric, a Christian political science professor and the Jewish daughter of Holocaust survivors, as well as Boston civic leader William Sapers and national terrorism expert Steven Emerson--had begun through their lawyers to conduct discovery into the ISB's financial records, its receipt of millions of dollars in funding from Saudi Arabian and other Middle Eastern sources, its contributions to certain organizations and the records of certain of its officers and directors. The ISB's abandonment of its lawsuits comes only weeks after two of its original Middle Eastern Trustees, Walid Fitaihi of Saudi Arabia and Ali Tobah of Egypt, suddenly resigned as Trustees just before they were required to submit themselves to the jurisdiction of the Massachusetts court hearing the case.

     The David Project, whose public records litigation against the BRA forced the public disclosure of evidence regarding the below-fair-market land deal between the BRA and the ISB and the role played in that deal of BRA Deputy Director Muhammed Ali Salaam, will proceed exactly as before with its litigation, seeking the remainder of the documents presently withheld by the BRA. That litigation, The David Project v. Boston Redevelopment Authority, is on file in Suffolk Superior Court in Boston.

MI:  REMARKS OFFEND SOME MUSLIMS

GRAND RAPIDS -- Some local Muslim leaders are demanding Richard DeVos apologize for remarks he made to Cornerstone University graduates comparing the "Muslim world" to Hitler's global threat. 

Actually, Islam is worse.

A statement issued by a local mosque this week calls DeVos' comments at the May 5 Cornerstone graduation "hateful speech that seeks to lump the millions of us with a radical few."  

"What are you trying to say, Mr. DeVos, by comparing us to Hitler's war machine?" reads the statement by the Islamic Mosque and Religious Institute, 321 Fuller Ave. NE.  

Mosque leaders said they were "shocked and disturbed" by the comments, adding that lumping all Muslims with fringe groups is "equal to McCarthyism."

Mosque officers said they would like to meet with DeVos and give him an opportunity to clarify his remarks or see whether his remarks were relayed accurately. (MORE)

Blogger Sued for Publishing Stories About Muslims linked to Terror

If the Muslims get away with this "test case", it will shut us all down. The intrepid blogger and PI (and valued Atlas source) has been sued for publishing stories about Muslims with ties to Islamic terror. News stories already published in the mainstream media. Warner obviously hit a nerve. This is the next nefarious step in the litigation jihad. Warner must prevail. This reeks of  CAIR.  Their tactics are written all over it. How is this different than the CAIR lawsuit against the Jane/John Does  on the US Airways flight that reported the belligerent,  aggressive behavior of the six imams?) Perhaps we need legislation to protect us (what happened to free speech?)

This is a serious threat to First Amendement rights of Freedom of Speach for bloggers and news reporters everywhere, and if I lose the law suit and the injunction is enforced, it will set a precedent for future law suits and injunctions to be imposed on any blogger or news reporter who writes about Muslims linked to terrorism.

Dabus in a Defamation Law Suit against myself and my company for supposedly linking Mr. Dabus and his company VIP Motors in Tampa with shipping vehicles to the Middle East for resale in support of terrorism and that Mr. Dabus had worked at the Islamic Academy of Florida with Sami Al-Arain (The School that Terrorism Built) as an instructor from 1999 to an unknown point and that Mr. Dabus was linked to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and that such information is posted on my web site www.wbipi.com .

No such information states that Mr. Dabus is shipping vehicles to the Middle East on my web site, the statements on my web site concerning Mr. Dabus are from open source public records and the Sami Al-Arian trial.

Mr, Dabus did work for the Islamic Academy of Florida with Sami al-Arian from at least 1999 to an unknown point, see Tampa Tribune article by Michael Fechter....... see article here

Mr. Dabus's tenure at the Islamic Academy of Florida with Sami Al-Arian did also link him to the PIJ and the school was tied to the PIJ, see Joe Kaufman's article in "Front Page Mag", following quote from the article  "According to the 50 page indictment, IAF (Islamic Academy of Florida) and other organizations were actively used as “the North American base of support for the PIJ and to raise funds and provide support for the PIJ and their operatives in the Middle East, in order to assist its engagement in, and promotion of, violent attacks designed to thwart the Middle East Peace Process.” Read the Front Page article here.

Friend Testifies He Gave Al-Arian Jihad Update

Dabus said he and Al-Arian had been friends for years but grew closer after he moved to Tampa in 1999 and took a job at a private school run by Al-Arian. He spoke succinctly and said he did not want to be in court. He said he was not a member of the Islamic Jihad but, as a Palestinian, supported those who fought Israeli occupation. "This trial should be in Tel Aviv," he said, "not here."

Still, Dabus verified a number of code words prosecutors have said the defendants used in their conversations. Among them, "the guys" is a reference to Islamic Jihad members, "the interior" means the occupied territories and "Moussa's group" refers to rival terrorist group Hamas.

Liberal Democrats are attempting to muzzle conservative talk radio: they are assaulting free speech. Like the communists in the former Soviet Union, America's liberals seek to crush dissent by consolidating control over the media-especially talk radio, which has emerged as the dominant medium for conservative opinion.

Allies close to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are promoting legislation, which if passed, will take off the air prominent conservative radio hosts such as Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly-along with thousands of smaller conservative broadcasters. The bill, entitled the "Media Ownership Reform Act," is sponsored by Rep. Maurice Hinchey, a leftist Democrat from New York. The legislation aims to revive the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" of the 1940's: "all views" are to be given equal time on radio. In particular, the Federal Communications Commission would have the power to oversee and change radio and television content. The goal is to tilt the ideological balance of power away from the right on the nation's air waves.

The real force behind the effort to censor conservative talk radio is the progressive-philanthropist, George Soros. The radical leftist billionaire has made no secret of his hatred for conservatives. He says President Bush has transformed America into a militaristic, "fascist" empire. Moreover, Soros champions many of liberalism's chic causes: abortion on demand, legalization of drugs, homosexual marriage, euthanasia, unlimited Third World immigration, open borders, and one-world government anchored in the United Nations. He advocates all the issues that are anathema to popular radio talk-show hosts like Savage, Limbaugh and Hannity. Hence, he wants these commentators to be exiled to the political wilderness.

At a recent National Conference for Media Reform, sponsored by Free Press, a Massachusetts-based group heavily subsidized by Soros, Hinchey laid bare his plan to silence conservative voices on television and radio. The anti-war McGovernite attacked Savage, Limbaugh and other conservative radio hosts, saying they were "responsible" for leading the U.S. into the Iraq war, as well as for preparing the ground for future military invasions of Iran and Syria. According to Hinchey, these men pose a "threat" to American national security. Hence, under his bill, they would be fired.

"All of that stuff will end," Hinchey said.

Those 50 DEM Senators who sent letter to WaPo attacking David Broder for criticizing Reid, did they also send some letters to some in the Miltary Command at DOD complaining that troops were sending letters to the sainted Harry Reid???

The DEMs were talking about re-legislating the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE since Gore ran for president.

Army Squeezes Soldier Blogs, Maybe to Death Wired.com hat tip Jan

The U.S. Army has ordered soldiers to stop posting to blogs or sending personal e-mail messages, without first clearing the content with a superior officer, Wired News has learned. The directive, issued April 19, is the sharpest restriction on troops' online activities since the start of the Iraq war. And it could mean the end of military blogs, observers say.

Military officials have been wrestling for years with how to handle troops who publish blogs. Officers have weighed the need for wartime discretion against the opportunities for the public to personally connect with some of the most effective advocates for the operations in Afghanistan and Iraq -- the troops themselves. The secret-keepers have generally won the argument, and the once-permissive atmosphere has slowly grown more tightly regulated. Soldier-bloggers have dropped offline as a result.

The new rules (.pdf) obtained by Wired News require a commander be consulted before every blog update.

"This is the final nail in the coffin for combat blogging," said retired paratrooper Matthew Burden, editor of The Blog of War anthology. "No more military bloggers writing about their experiences in the combat zone. This is the best PR the military has -- it's most honest voice out of the war zone. And it's being silenced."

I have a message, a freedom of speech alert, to be specific.

One of the foremost Finnish immigration and islam critical bloggers Mikko Ellilä is facing a police investigation concerning his blog posts.

Mikko posts in Finnish in his blog.

Mikko is due to have a hearing in the local Police department and I believe he is about to face an investigation for incitement against a group of people (hets mot folkgrupp). So far, no charges have been pressed.

A followup to yesterday’s report: I just got a note from Vasarahammer, with his summary of Mikko Ellilä’s situation. Mr. Ellilä is a Finnish writer and blogger who has been summoned by the police for a hearing under Finland’s “incitement against groups” law.

Several commenters have expressed the opinion that this whole business is likely to amount to nothing, and that Mr. Ellilä’s case will be dismissed when he goes in for his hearing on Monday.

But we’re not going to take that for granted. A little international pressure will help concentrate the mind of the Finnish government and make it realize its mistake in harassing Mikko Ellilä.

I suggest a two-pronged plan:

1.		If you are a blogger, publicize this on your blog. If you are Finnish, and have additional information on Mikko Ellilä, send it in to us or to other blogs to add to the publicity. In particular, a photo would help — I couldn’t find one.
2.		Contact the Finnish authorities. For our American readers, the Finnish embassy has a handy US map with state-by-state contact information here.
