New Cambridge United Chairman
Cambridge United's Board of Directors appointed Philip Law as the club's new Chairman at a board meeting following Monday's evening's very postive Annual General Meeting.
Fans Elected Director Brian Attmore was appointed Vice-Chairman.
Paul Barry was re-elected by rotation, and Adrian Hanauer and new Business Development Director George Rolls were formally re-elected to the Board by the shareholders after being appointed since the last AGM.
Speaking to cambridgeunited.com immediately after his appointment, Phil Law admitted he was surprised to find himself in the role of Chairman but he is looking forward to the challenge:
"It's certainly not something I coveted. It's a tremendous privilege and I'm massively delighted but it was completely unexpected.
"I was asked by every other board member whether I would do it and they put a very compelling case to me, and I will be doing this with their full support," he added. "There's no question that I would consider it unless it was with their full support and cooperation.
"I couldn't undertake the role without that, but with everything in place it became a relatively easy decision to accept.
"This club is moving in the right direction and whatever happens now this season will go down as a success."
A full interview with Phil will be published on the website on Tuesday.
Former Vice-Chairman Dr Johnny Hon did not stand for re-election to the Board. He is now living in Hong Kong and has a new baby, and due to business reasons is unable to meet his commitments to the club at present. However he still wants to help the club and Paul Barry noted that Dr Hon put almost £200,000 into the club five years ago and he believes he will live up to his commitments.
Barry also revealed that a number of people have contacted the club recently who are interested in offering either investment or expertise.
Last week Lee Power and Geoff Peck stepped down as Chairman and Finance Director respectively.
