De Melo heads to Palermo
Thursday Jan 31 2008 07:24

Palermo will be able to field new signing Tulio De Melo despite a dispute with Parma over the registration of the Brazilian striker.

The 22-year-old agreed to move to Italy from French side Le Mans last week, with both Palermo and Parma claiming to have reached an agreement with the player.

However, Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi confirmed: "The striker will play with Palermo this season, but his contract is in a co-ownership agreement with us.

"Now we hand the case over to our lawyers, who are working in an attempt to avoid a sanction.

"If he had gone to the Rosanero on a permanent move, then we could have discussed that, but in this way things change."

De Melo had scored 18 goals in 59 top-flight appearances for Le Mans before heading to Italy.
