General Information

Fachhochschule Düsseldorf / University of Applied Sciences was founded on August 1st, 1971 by merging four existing institutions. These were the Technical College of Engineering, the Peter-Behrens Werkkunstschule (School of Arts and Crafts), Höhere Fachschule of Social Work and Social Pedagogy and Höhere Wirtschaftsschule (Business College). Fachhochschule Düsseldorf aims to prepare its students for professions requiring the application of academic disciplines or artistic skills. This is achieved by teaching with a strong orientation to practical experience on the basis of theoretical studies and sciences. Students complete their course of study in three or four years, including the time required for the final examination. An academic degree is awarded after successful completion of the course. Today at FH Düsseldorf, 180 professors and 260 part-time members of the teaching staff prepare nearly 7.800 students for a career.
