Eleven: a music company is chuffed to report that two of its artists have scored a rare double according to the charts for the whole of 2007 which were released this week.
ARIA Award winning Best Female Artist, Missy Higgins had the highest selling Australian album of 2007 with her acclaimed sophomore release “On A Clear Night” while label mates Silverchair - the most successful group in ARIA Award history - topped the year’s single charts with “Straight Lines”.
Silverchair’s album, “Young Modern” was #4 on the same ARIA chart while Missy’s #1 single “Steer” also made the year-end top 50.
Missy spent much of last year touring Australia delivering her unforgettable live performances to packed crowds around the country and putting to rest any doubts that people may have had about her ability to sustain the success she established with her debut release, 2004’s “The Sound of White”. 2008 sees Missy head to America in the coming weeks for her own headline tour and to play the coveted Sundance Film Festival. “On A Clear Night” will be released in North America in February 26th.
2007 saw Silverchair cement their rightful place as one of the most acclaimed bands in Australian music history. The band played over 60 shows on a co-headline tour with Powderfinger, they swept the ARIA Awards and now have more #1 albums than any other Australian band. The band’s ARIA Award winning Album of The Year the album “Young Modern” was the fastest seller of their extraordinary career to date.
The band will start 2008 with a bang! Silverchair return to the main stage of the Big Day Out which kicks off on the Gold Coast on January 20th. The band’s current single “Mind Reader” is at radio now.
