After 34 years and nearly 500 productions, MAPA is proud of it's place in the Maui community - and the many places it's been. From the original Pu'unene Clubhouse to hotel ballrooms around the island, from the Castle Theater stage to under the stars at the Wailea Shopping Center, from the Kahului Community Center to our current home at Steppingstone Playhouse, MAPA's plays, musicals and dance productions have brought together people from the full spectrum of Maui as actors, artists, production staff and audiences.

THE MUSIC MAN

at the MACC - Castle Theater
February 8 - February 10, 2008

Fifty years ago, Professor Harold Hill marched onto a Broadway stage and into musical history. MAPA's golden anniversary production at the Castle Theater will captivate those who remember the original while introducing a new generation to the delights of small town, turn-of-the-century Americana.

A cast of 60 populates River City, a small Iowa town beguiled by the wily charm of conman Harold Hill, played by Jerry Eiting, who meets his match in Marion (the librarian) Paroo played by Leighanna Edwards. Several songs from the score have entered the pantheon of American music, including 76 Trombones, The Wells Fargo Wagon, Goodnight, My Someone and the barbershop quartet classic Lida Rose.

David C. Johnston directs, with dazzling dance choreography by Camille Romero. Musical direction is in the capable hands of Marti Kluth and a live, 20-member orchestra of Maui's finest professional and student musicians.
