London Zoo Masterplan, London
2002-ongoing

As part of a long-standing involvement with London's Royal Parks, Terry Farrell and Partners are currently working on a masterplan for London Zoo, which will make for better connectivity and accessibility to the Zoo. Within the suggested framework, the Zoo entrance is moved eastwards to a new London square adjacent to the Broad Walk in Regent's Park. The square will accommodate cafés, an information point and shop sited on the Broad Walk and connect directly to new access from the road. This will eliminate the need to walk around the Zoo from Primrose Hill.

TFP's masterplan simplifies pedestrian circulation within the Zoo, and proposes a new indigenous landscape framework, which softens the Zoo's somewhat urban character. The Zoo masterplan forms part of TFP's proposals to create one of the finest urban walks in Europe, the 'Nash Ramblas,' extending from Primrose Hill all the way to Queen's Walk on the South Bank.
