Atoll Office Staff Member Sentenced To 20 Years’ Banishment For Embezzlement

Abdullah Hameed, a staff member from Mulaku Atoll Office, has been sentenced to 20 years’ banishment for embezzlement and treason, reports Haveeru.

During his time as the Senior Secretary at Mulaku Atoll Office, Mrf/- 182, 821.13 went missing.

Abdullah Hameed was previously sentenced for the same charges in 2005, but did not serve any time due to a presidential pardon.

General Assembly Of Maldives Media Association Held

The General Assembly of the Maldives Media Association (MMA) was held on Sunday night. The meeting, held at the Social Centre, was attended by 25 members and chaired by MMA president, Thoyyib Mohamed.

The purpose of the meeting was to share information on the MMA’s activities with its members.

Broken Submarine Cable Affects Raajje Online And Wataniya

Wataniya Maldives has revealed that its international calls and internet services are being affected due to damage which occurred last week to a European submarine cable in the Mediterranean region.

Speaking to Minivan News a Wataniya official today said that it would take 2-3 weeks to fix the problem.

Customers of Wataniya Maldives may face difficulties in making international calls and Raajje Online will offer a deteriorated internet experience.

National Center For The Arts To Conduct New Classes

The National Center for the Arts has revealed that it plans to conduct new classes in dance and in Arabic and Thaana script writing, Miadhu reports.

256 students have registered their interest.

Man And Excavator Fall Into The Sea

A man and an excavator fell into the sea while working at Lhaviyani atoll Hinnavaru harbour development site, reports Haveeru.

The man was not hurt, but work ground to a halt as it was the only excavator at the site.
