A woman’s bad hair day got worse Wednesday after deputies say she broke into an East Naples beauty salon to get a refund for an alleged botched hairdo, according to Collier County Sheriff's deputies.

But Joann R. Olivio broke into the wrong salon, according to reports. Olivio, 72, of 2305 Hidden Lake Drive, Apt. 1, was charged with burglary and petty theft.

Reports say deputies responded to an alarm at Studio 3 Hair Salon, 4025 Santa Barbara Blvd., around 3:30 a.m. The glass in the front door had been broken.

Deputies searched the salon and found Olivio crouched behind the cash register, wearing a housecoat, pajamas, slippers, and yellow dishwashing gloves. A jacket she wore over her housecoat had shards of glass on it. She was holding a hammer, squeegee and small flashlight.

A search of Olivio’s pockets turned up a large amount of change. The business’ change drawer was open and empty. Business owner Chris Griffiths told deputies that he had closed the change drawer and that there was money inside it when he locked up the salon for the night.

Deputies say Olivio broke into the salon because it had ruined her hair and she needed money to get her hair fixed. Angelo Olivio told deputies his wife broke into the wrong hair salon.

Don't blame her, look at her hair!!!

Yes, it certainly looks like she has a good defense.

#2 Posted by robertonaol on January 30, 2008 at 10:50 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Come on, you'll never convince me a woman doesn't know where she has her hair done. The photo will sure give this shop all the publicity they don't want.

#3 Posted by 676 on January 30, 2008 at 11:19 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Very sad story.

#4 Posted by sheenabella on January 30, 2008 at 11:31 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I'm sure Collier County Jail will give her a nice trimming :) Seriously, this is sad.

#5 Posted by Jetaime on January 30, 2008 at 11:48 a.m. (Suggest removal)

To handle this sort of matter, it can usually be resolved with a phone call or re-visiting the Stylist. If there isn't a satisfactory solution then let the small claims court decide. Isn't that why we have a court system?

Most all salons or stylists will cooperate and try to satisfy their clients. The bottom line is she broke the law! So the salon shouldn't be the bad guy. Not to mention her hair was slept on. She was in her night gown so it's hard to judge this story on what her picture looked like. For all we know it was an improvement!

#6 Posted by niannitelli on January 30, 2008 at 11:56 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I don't know if I feel that this is sad. Actually, a 72 year old lady caught wearing rubber gloves, pajamas and slippers is pretty darn funny! She'll just plead temporary insanity due to the hair chemicals.

#7 Posted by mattmaki on January 30, 2008 at 11:59 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I know for a fact that this lady hasn't been into Studio 3 Hair Salon for her hair. She is an elderly woman with alzheimer's. She was dazed and confused during her arrest. You people should feel sorry for her not make fun of her.

#8 Posted by nativeofnaples on January 30, 2008 at 12:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Boy, East Naples is a daily thing as of late.............

#9 Posted by BignRich on January 30, 2008 at 12:16 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Your right nativeofnaples, she obviously has health issues. Pople like this have an excuse for doing unacceptable things. It's up to us the "normal" people to try and prevent things like this from happening to our elderly people. If you want to make fun of someone..make fun of the people who have a normal brain and choose to alter their thinking via drugs & alcohol and then do stupid crap like this and want us to feel sorry for them.
This is somebody's Mom, at least hope she gets the necessary supervision she needs.

#10 Posted by Native on January 30, 2008 at 12:20 p.m. (Suggest removal)

LOL. The housecoat, pajamas, slippers, and yellow dishwashing gloves is a pretty funny sight if you think about it. But man look at her hair. They should have given her a full refund. Maybe she has dementia.

#11 Posted by maplesyrup on January 30, 2008 at 12:28 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I am wondering in her 72 years of existance on this earth, had she learned anything? It is sad to say that I know people, younger poeople, whom have more intelligence and wisdom than this women, without having lived half as long as this women.
This women disgusts me. Some people have what I call an entitlement disability. Whereas people like this lady find that they are entitled to something, and decide to take action to get it, regaurdless of the rules or law, of the land.
She will get what she deserves, a bad hair day, a guilty verdict, and the label of a convicted felon. All received at the ripe old age of 72.

What a waste. Do you suspect she might have learned something from all this, or does the 72 years she lived on earth explain she has not? I wonder if her grand children - if they exist- look up to her, because surely this ia act that is held in the highest order. Joking of course.

Still I sympathize for this women to a degree. My only hope is that she realizes her mistake, and seeks to make amends with what she has done.

#12 Posted by SHIFTT on January 30, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. (Suggest removal)

SHIFTT,
If you had READ any of the above posts, this woman has Alzheimer's disease, which is NEITHER disgusting or funny.
You should only hope to live as long, and be healthy.
Several of you posters above should be ashamed of yourselves.

Mattmaki, you are just mean and sick, and definitely NOT funny.

If you had someone in your family or life with Alzheimers, you would have compassion, and not make a sick joke out of this.

#13 Posted by sheenabella on January 30, 2008 at 12:51 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Sorry sheena, funniest thing I've read all day. lol

Look at the mug shot and try not to smile, go ahead, I dare you.

SHE dares you!!

#16 Posted by myrealname on January 30, 2008 at 4:49 p.m. (Suggest removal)

When reading the description of her attire at the time of the incident, I immediate thought of Chris Farley dressed as a lunch lady dancing to Adam Sandler singing, "Lunch lady land". Must be the rubber gloves.

By the way, IF this woman suffers from some type of degenerative disease, she certainly had the presence of mind to wear gloves to conceal her finger prints.

#17 Posted by SandnSurf on January 30, 2008 at 5:03 p.m. (Suggest removal)

All you negative posters remember............

What goes around....comes around.

You should all spend your blogging time reading up on Alzheimers, so you could maybe post an intelligent blog.

Shame

#18 Posted by Native on January 30, 2008 at 5:29 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Seriously...You can't make this stuff up!!! Too bad she didn't have a moo-moo and a rolling pin!!

Ha! This is classic!

#19 Posted by FL2CA on January 30, 2008 at 5:57 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Who says she has Alzheimer's disease??

#20 Posted by eltuna on January 30, 2008 at 6:12 p.m. (Suggest removal)

It's a man, baby!

#21 Posted by naplesscribe on January 30, 2008 at 6:20 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Ok, myrealname,
I looked again, and didn't laugh at all.

I pictured someone that I love there, and the pain and sadness that this rag of a newspaper, and your assinine comments would bring.

If that's the funniest thing you've seen all day, you should get a real kick out of visiting retirement homes.
Sicko.

#22 Posted by sheenabella on January 30, 2008 at 6:23 p.m. (Suggest removal)

BTW, sheena, you scolded me the other day for "attacking" someone, yet almost all you ever do is comment on other bloggers. So, let me get this straight, we aren't allowed to joke or point out someone's idocy but, you're allowed to scold and insult us with your holier than thou attitude and name calling.

"Hello, Kettle? This is Pot. You're black."

#23 Posted by myrealname on January 30, 2008 at 6:26 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Eltuna,
I guess you can't read either.

BUT, even if she does not, she is definitely sick, and needs help, not ridicule.

Some of you really need to develop compassion, maybe volunteer at a retirement home, a nursing home, or David Lawrence, and get a picture of the REAL world, instead of sitting in your big and mighty houses (BigandRich), or wherever you live and look down upon others.

Like Native states.
what goes around, comes around, better start praying for forgiveness before you reach 70, if you even do make it that far.

I think a few posters' mommy and daddy ought to be monitoring them on the computer, I cannot believe an adult would write such horrible comments.

#24 Posted by sheenabella on January 30, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. (Suggest removal)

myrealname,
That's correct, I do have the right to comment on others, as do you, the only difference being that my comments usually defend those who I feel are wrong, mean, or just plain inconsiderate, like you, for example. OR, I compliment those who I feel have made someone feel better that day.
I am not going to go any farther into this, I don't argue with ignorant people.

Go ahead and "joke" (?) all you want, no one is stopping you from making yourself look even more uneducated.

and your final line about the pot and kettle was really immature, sorry, it wasn't clever.

Bye, have fun making jokes about the unfortunate.
I can sleep at night, knowing I didnt intentionally try to hurt someone.

I have better things to do tonight, sorry that you don't.

#25 Posted by sheenabella on January 30, 2008 at 6:39 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Sheenabella,
Don't waste your time.
You can't fix stupid.
You're right, and he's embarrassed.

#26 Posted by Alexthemaster on January 30, 2008 at 7:13 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Sheenabella....
I am supposed to believe a post???
How about some facts instead of speculation.
I think you created this fictitious disease because it makes you feel good because you defended someone. If it was sincere then you would not be looking for approval from yourself and others that you can sleep better.
Try not to be so uptight and you wont get mental or physical diseases. How do you think they are caused in the first place??
All I know is that she has the worst haircut ever.

#27 Posted by eltuna on January 30, 2008 at 7:21 p.m. (Suggest removal)

#1 I didn't read anything about this woman having Alzheimers disease in the article. #2 Does anyone think that there is something wrong with the husband? He stated in the above article that his wife broke into the wrong salon, like he knew what she was up to. Why didn't he stop her? Or did he drive her there?

#28 Posted by ramidc on January 30, 2008 at 7:28 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Ramidc...Good point!!

#29 Posted by eltuna on January 30, 2008 at 7:31 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Is this the mug shot of the perp or her husband?
This is funny stuff!!

#30 Posted by GreyFlannel on January 30, 2008 at 8:33 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I think the person that gave her that hairdo should also be arrested...for impersonating a hair stylist.

#31 Posted by swfljim on January 30, 2008 at 8:40 p.m. (Suggest removal)

eltuna,
Hey, you know, you're right!
I created Alzheimer's disease, case solved.
Now you can go and claim your trophy.
OMG, a new low has been reached.

#32 Posted by sheenabella on January 30, 2008 at 8:50 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Sheenabella...you should up your dose because there is definitely something wrong with you.
You tell me that I can't read when it doesn't say anywhere in the article about Alzheimers, only your speculation on limited information and you were able to diagnose her condition.
Notice how quick you are to put other people down. All I asked where it said that?

#33 Posted by eltuna on January 30, 2008 at 9 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Whatever,cupcake.

As for "upping" my dose of meds, that line has been used by too many bloggers.
Make up your own.

#34 Posted by sheenabella on January 30, 2008 at 9:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

No line...just obvious

#35 Posted by eltuna on January 30, 2008 at 9:12 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Get a life, eltuna.
It's OBVIOUS that the woman is sick in some way, no matter what the problem.
Alzheimers happens to be a REAL disease, moron.

#36 Posted by Alexthemaster on January 30, 2008 at 9:13 p.m. (Suggest removal)

GEE eltuna,
It just said on the morning news that the woman suffers from dementia, so I guess I and other considerate people on this post were right.
Apology accepted.
Don't forget to get your refill. THAT'S obvious.
Have a great day!

#37 Posted by sheenabella on January 31, 2008 at 6:37 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Jesus sheena, lighten up. No one was killed, injured or harmed, in any way.

An old lady was caught in a house coat, slippers and yellow rubber gloves breaking into a hair salon to retrieve a refund because she got a bad haircut.

REgardless of the circumstances, THAT is funny. Top that off with the "what'cho talkin 'bout, Willis?" mug shot and if you aint laughing you're either dead or you're some bitter old woman with no sense of humor who gets her jollies scolding people on the internet while she slowly slips towards the same fate as Mrs. Olivio.

You have a nice day now, dearie, and take all the pills the nice man brings you.

LOLLOL, I'm probably half your age, awipe.
Those set of pliers probably got a lot of self use.
Have a great day, I have an actual life, that does not include making fun of the unfortunate.
I pity you, so sad, worse than the woman posted.
At least she has an excuse, what's yours???

What goes around, comes around, and I hope you get your real soon.
Have a nice medicated day! :)

#40 Posted by sheenabella on January 31, 2008 at 7:22 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Ahhh, so you're just a child in that all-knowing stage of life. I should have known.

But i still have to ask, how many times are you going to type the same insults, sheena? You're begining to reveal your lack of depth and imagination. Time for some new material, kiddo.

#41 Posted by myrealname on January 31, 2008 at 7:47 a.m. (Suggest removal)

No, sorry, not a child, but an adult with compassion and a sense of apathy.

How many times are YOU going to post insults and putdowns to total strangers?
You're a total stranger to me, so you don't matter to me, not one bit.
Laughing at people with a sickness, how mature are YOU? Not very.

They should post your picture, but it would scare too many little kids.
I'll continue to stand up for those who cant do it alone.

I'm done with you, sooooo boring.

Go out and find a job, grandpa.

#42 Posted by sheenabella on January 31, 2008 at 8:10 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Good God, would you two give it a rest. Or are you trying to make the rest of our heads explode???

#27 Posted by eltuna: "Try not to be so uptight and you wont get mental or physical diseases. How do you think they are caused in the first place??"

You are kidding me, right? I guess you pretty much single-handedly just solved all of the world's medical problems. Congratulations, doctor. You have just done what millions before you haven't been able to accomplish since the beginning of time. I always knew that a child born with Down Syndrome was due to it being uptight in the womb of the uptight mother who had mated with the child's uptight father.

I guess this answers why there are so many out-of-work construction workers still sitting around twiddling their thumbs and waiting for the phone to ring bringing good news of the acceptance of their application for that medical position at John Hopkins.

myrealnameismoron,
Is that a picture of your mom or grandmom?
Oh, it's not? Than I guess you would find it funny.
I am sure this woman's family didn't.
You just can't fix stupid.

#45 Posted by Alexthemaster on January 31, 2008 at 1:24 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Hey SandnSurf,
You don't like it, pass it by!
Judging from your post above, your head already exploded, and the brain is nowhere to be found.
Probably sitting by the lost sense of compassion.

I believe that TV news reported that her husband said she had Alzheimer's syndrome.
If that is the case, at least the comments about her appearance won't hurt her feelings. If she does, this is not a funny thing but rather tragic.

I hope everyone of you feel like crapp after reading this.

this would be her granddaughter Nicole.

Do you think its funny making fun of people with a disease ? like honestly?

do you think the rest of my family would enjoy seeing you all make fun of her?

It'd bring my grandfather and father to tears, this isn't something to laugh about, this is a real thing, my grandmother could go to jail for the rest of her life, scared alone and not able to talk to her family.

Maybe you people haven't ever had someone close to you with this disease. its a terrible sad thing to have your own grandmother not really remember you.

I hope this website takes this thread down.
