SSC Ultimate Aero TT Supercar
Up For Bids On eBay

Here’s an interesting twist: elite-manufacturer-to-be SSC is auctioning off the rights to purchase the first of their upcoming Ultimate Aero TT supercar. Even more interesting, the no-reserve auction has an initial bid price of $280,000, less than half of the expected retail price ($585,000). Is this a spectacular bargain, or bad $ign for SSC?

Either way, the car’s performance claims are compelling stuff: 0-60 mph in just 2.78 seconds, with a quarter-mile time of 9.90 seconds at 144 mph. The company also claims that car pulls 1.05 g’s on the skidpad and can turn the 0-100-0 trick in just 11.66 seconds. The SSC up for auction is fitted with a twin-turbo V8 that puts out 1180 bhp @ 6875 rpm, and 961 pound-feet of torque @ 6,150 rpm. No top speed quote is available, but on the company’s website, it indicates that a less powerful example (1046 bhp) is calculated to hit “…up to 273 mph” as per wind tunnel calculations. If the auction car comes in anywhere near that number, it should handily dethrone the Bugatti Veyron as the world’s fastest production car.

According to the seller, the car is slated for an international launch this January, and it will compete in a Wolfsburg, Germany top speed contest come May. The auction car is the first of two early-production cars, and the second car is slated for testing by various buff books and the UK’s Top Gear.

Just 24 Ultimate Aero TTs will be produced over the next two years.

Something doesn’t add up with that 0-100-0 time, unless the Aero TT has hideous brakes…

The veyron does a quarter mile in 1/4 mile: 9.75 sec. @ 148. It also gets to 60 in under 3 seconds. Figure 100 mph in under 6 seconds for both cars. but look at the figures below…

I know its fast, but in this context 11.66 seems suspiciously slow.

From Autocar’s recent 0-100-0 test, the Veyron got to
Competing Cars 0-100-0 Time (seconds)
A1 GP 8.40
Bugatti Veyron 9.90
Suzuki GSX-R1000 10.70
Ariel Atom S’Charged 11.00
Ariel Atom 450 11.05
Atom Private Owned 11.05
Caterham CSR260 11.95
Brooke Double R 12.50
Porsche 911 Turbo 12.50
Ford Focus WRC 13.57
Lambo Gallardo 13.65
Ascari KZ1 13.80
Corvette Z06 13.80
Alpina B6 14.80

I say don’t fret about some 0-100-0 test times…look at the freakin’ car! Some of us wish we had enough money to buy one of those…but this someone is getting a Challenger…

though it’s extremely superb, i still prefer bugatti veyron may be for it’s elegance.

0-100-0 in 1.66 seems about right, the bugatti has better acceleration and braking, it beat the freaking sportsbike fo f#$% sake. the veyron does 0-60 in 2.4!!! faster than any other stock production car, the SSC shares it’s 2.8 speed with the saleen S7 and the Ferrari FXX.

Motor Trend tested a Bugatti Veyron and it did 0-60 in 2.7 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 10.4 seconds, thats 0.5 seconds slower than the SSC in the 1/4 mile.

This SSC is supposed to break from 60 mph in only 103 feet.

If going 0-60 in a straight line is all you plan on doing with a car then go for the Bugatti. But if cornering is important to you the SSC offers 963 bhp per ton compared to the Veyron’s 490 bhp per ton. You may be two feet ahead of me in the first 1/4 mile, but once we hit the corners…

“though it’s extremely superb, i still prefer bugatti veyron may be for it’s elegance”.

what the hell is that, when are u gonna be able to choose between these 2 cars and say ‘no thanks ill take the elegant one please’. Anyone in the right state of mind would pick the ssc, expected price is half of the veyron,it weighs less and can take turns much better. Elegance is for lazy people, if i got the chance to even touch one of these cars it would be the sssc hands down.

The SSC car is only rear wheel drive. That would be bloody scary with 1000hp.
The descripion given on Ebay ponints out a mayjor flaw in the concept - “was specifically designed to surpass the 253 mph top speed record currently held by the Bugatti Veyron.”. - The Bugatti had alot of years in development to get to where it is now….you can’t do that in 12 months like SSC have tried to do. Good luck to them….they’ll need it

first off the veyron does not go 0-60 in 2.4 secs…where u get your facts from cuz they are wrong…yes it does have a faster 0-60 time then the ssc but thats prolly due to the fact that it has 8 more cyclinders and 2 more turbos and its all wheel drive…the veyron hasnt even had its offical top speed test yet unoffically it has gone 251.4 they were appose to have there offical top speed run with Guiness this month but it got pushed off due to weather till later this year…the ssc’s previous verson the ssc ultima aero the one that is supercharged was wind tunnel tested to go 273 this one they claim can go faster due to more power…the car has broken all of ferrari’s slalom records…the car truly is amazing…yes the veyron is an amazing car aswell…but the veyron wasnt designed for just performance it was also designed for comfort and class…the ssc i was built for one purpose…to be the ultimate performance car forget the comfort…forget luxury if ur going 250+ ur not ganna be worried about the radio or diamonds on the steering wheel like the veyron…plus in my opinion its about freakin time some american company shows veyron and everyone else how its done and puts America back on the map for fast super production cars…

Thesee cars come from my home town. The guy who first came up with the conept is an uncle of a guy I went to school with. I’ve seen two of these cars in person. The pictures do them no justice to just how amazing they are in real life.

You guys think America must have the fastest car, but come on, enyone can build a thing that goes faster than 270 mi/h. That´s not the point. What car do have? Oh, I have the SSC Ultima Aero TT… And then everybody will say: WWWWHAAAAAT? What the hell is that? No, thanks. I don’t want no hell. Nope. I’d rather say: I have a Ferrari, or a Bugatti, or a Lambo. Italian cars. They’re the best.
