Home of Analog Metropolis and AnalogDNA synthesizer technology

                                 Emulate some magic!

Introduction
Analog synthesizers and digital sequencers have been at the core of innovative electronic music for 40 years. In the 1970's a number of companies sprang up in the USA and designed a series of amazing products - ARP, E-mu Systems, Oberheim and Sequential Circuits. Most of these designs have been lost in the digital software music revolution, yet the original hardware is sought after by musicians for the warmth, precision and character. However buying and using old equipment is increasingly frustrating - so wouldn't it be nice to have these designs re-invented and manufactured today with current components?

Analog Metropolis
Since 2002 I have been developing replica and upgraded analog synthesizer modules; VCO's, VCF's, VCA's, Envelope Generators, Voltage Processors. This is the Analog Metropolis range of products. These designs have been recreated as PCB's that are usually housed in a modular synthesizer, either in a commercial format such as MOTM, or my own 4U high Analog Metropolis format. The unpopulated PCB's are available for sale, and Project Notes describe how to build the module. These PCB's are aimed at Synth DIYers, but completed modules can be requested and are built as one-off's.

AnalogDNA
I have also developed new electronic music designs using the latest PIC and PICdsp microcontroller technology from MicroChip in the USA. This is the AnalogDNA range of products. These modules and devices use a mix of analog and digital technology to deliver programmability, patch storage and cool displays. Ideas from the 1970's and 1980's have been re-invented and expanded. These PCB's will be available in the future for Synth DIYers, complete with pre-programmed PIC chips.

Athestic Design
Developing remarkable electronics is only half the job. To create music from hardware the musician has to be inspired by the control surface and ergonomics as well as the sound. I have taken care to design the front panels of the modules I use in my studio with these factors in mind, using design cues from the past - control knobs, switches, LED's and displays. Take a look at the pictures on the web site to see what can be achieved. Synth candy!
