Some noteworthy air frame anniversaries could swell the numbers of visiting Warbirds in 2008.


Anniversaries Could Bulge Warbird Attendance
Anniversary gatherings of several warbird models could bring a significant number of additional airplanes to EAA AirVenture 2008, and warbird-area volunteers are preparing for the possible influx. During their annual mid-winter review and planning session at Oshkosh, the warbird flight line volunteers studied warbird parking layouts for the 2008 fly-in. EAA AirVenture is a major gathering for several warbirds groups celebrating anniversaries this year, including the 70th anniversary of the T-6 trainer and the 60th anniversary of the Nanchang CJ-6A.  Read more  
The Dream of Spaceflight
Virgin Galactic's unveiling of the SpaceShipTwo/WhiteKnightTwo models on January 23 included this fascinating animation showing what a typical spaceflight might be like in the not-too-distant future.

Virgin Galactic confirms it will participate as an exhibitor and a presenter at EAA AirVenture 2008. What will they bring to Oshkosh? We'll just have to wait and see, so stay tuned to the AirVenture website for more details as they develop.

'THE JET' AT OSHKOSH? NOT YET DETERMINED, CIRRUS SAYS
February 7, 2008 - One of the airplanes that amped up the "wow" factor at EAA AirVenture last summer, Cirrus Design's single-engine personal "The Jet," was said to be appearing at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2008 in a news report earlier this week, but company officials can't confirm that. "It has not been determined at this time exactly what the schedule is," said Kate Dougherty, public relations director. "We obviously have you guys (EAA) in mind as we're thinking about what we're going to be doing with the (Jet's) schedule, but nothing has been finalized. We're still in a research and development process, so we're not in a big hurry to get a plane in the air. We want to do this thing right from the beginning."  Read more

Inspiring young women to reach for their dreams in aviation is again the mission of EAA’s fourth annual Women Soar, You Soar event July 28-29 at the EAA Aviation Center in Oshkosh. Registrations are now being accepted for this program, open to young women entering grades nine through 12 in fall 2008. Through the event’s introduction of aviation-based careers and a women-mentor network, the program encourages and supports these women to consider a career in aviation.  Read more
