Unity College Graduates Students
A total of 1349 students graduated with diploma from Unity College last Saturday.
In a ceremony held at the Global Hotel, 927 students graduated with diploma in accounting, 101 in business administration, 100 in marketing and 163 in secretarial and office management, 33 in law and 25 in hotel and catering. 60 of them had given a scholarship by the college.
Addressing the graduates of the college and invited guests, Dr. Fisseha Eshetu, President of Unity College said Ethiopia, more than ever needs educated and skilled manpower who are honest, diligent, committed to work and willing to serve and impart their knowledge for the development of the nation.
Professor Richard Pankhurst, honorable guest of the ceremony, said the contribution of private colleges in producing skilled manpower is vital and that the government and private businesses should give prior attention to develop the sector.
"Educational and other modern developments in Ethiopia are so important that they require the participation of both the State and the private sector. Both, in this phase of the country's history, are needed: the one cannot be successful without the help and cooperation of the other."
This is the 6th graduation ceremony of the college, raising the total number of graduated of the college to 3,788.
Unity College is the first private college in Ethiopia established in 1998. Currently it has about 12,000 regular and extension students studying in degree, diploma and certificate programs.700 of them have been given scholarship by the college.
