Erin Hawksworth joined Channel 8 in February 2006 and serves as a sports reporter. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Hawksworth grew up mostly in the Seattle Area. She has also lived in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oklahoma and Washington, D.C. Her career began at KJCT-TV in Grand Junction, Colorado where she was a reporter and morning anchor. She won a Colorado Broadcasters Association Award for her reporting achievements. She also worked behind the scenes for NBC Sports in Athens, Greece at the 2004 Olympics.
Hawksworth comes from a sports driven family. Her younger brother, Blake, is a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals. In addition, her father, Mark, coaches high school baseball and has been involved with youth athletics for over 20 years. Hawksworth looks forward to attending the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, not only because it is her hometown, but more importantly to support her grandfather who will serve as the Chairman.
Hawksworth graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. At Arizona State she worked at a student newspaper The State Press as a reporter. She won a Society of Professional Journalists Award for her efforts covering spot news. Hawksworth was also an intern in the sports department at KPNX-TV in Phoenix. She also served as an intern for Dateline NBC.
When not working, Hawksworth enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling and working out.
