Obama responds to “crush” :: Jason Clayworth

June 19th, 2007 :: 10:58 AM

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama responded Monday to the popular “I’ve got a crush on Obama” video that has become popular on the Internet.

“It’s just one more example of the fertile imagination of the internet,” Obama said to The Des Moines Register. “More stuff like this will be popping up all the time.”

The video, performed by singer Leah Kauffman, is circulating the Internet, including the popular YouTube Web site.

The video shows a model in various poses. In one scene, she is in a bikini, standing in front of a picture of a shirtless Obama that was taken while he was on vacation in Hawaii last year.

The catchy pop song in the background includes the lyrics: “You’re into border security. Let’s break this border between you and me.” She also sings that Obama’s universal health care reform “makes me warm.”

Obama told the Register this week that he hadn’t actually seen the entire video but saw reports of it.The Web site includes deleted pictures from the video shoot, including one of with “Obama” printed on red undies worn by the model.
