2007 Junior RaiderettesIn their final performance of the year, the 2007 Junior Raiderettes squad performed at halftime while the Oakland Raiders hosted the Houston Texans at McAfee Coliseum on Sunday, November 4, 2007. This year, over 300 young girls from all over the western United States gathered together for two performances at Raiders home games and attended four clinics hosted by the Raiderettes and choreographers.

“As well as being ambassadors for the Raider organization, our Raiderettes play an important role every season with our young Junior Raiderettes,” said Raiderette director Karen Kovac. “Our women become the teachers, mentors and coaches for the hundreds of young girls who dream of putting on the Junior Raiderette uniform and performing with the Raiderettes.”

The team opened up their season with a pregame performance during the Raiders first preseason game. In their farewell appearance, the girls danced alongside Raiderettes to the music from Hannah Montana, High School Musical 2, Jump In and Bratz.

This year marked the ninth year for the Junior Raiderettes program. In addition to the clinics and two performances, each participant receives her own Junior Raiderette uniform, silver pom poms, a DVD of both performances, a Raiderette calendar and most importantly, an exclusive photo shoot in their uniform.

Junior Raiderettes is a program designed for all girls between the ages of 7-15. The young cheerleaders are broken up into groups based on their ages called Angels, Dolls and Dreamgirls and taught unique and fun dance routines.

“The goal of our program is to help instill confidence in each individual through their up close and personal interaction with the Raiderettes, build their self esteem through hard work in rehearsals and ultimately share in their great accomplishment of a job well done after their performance in front of 60,000 Raider fans,” Kovac said.
