McCain Fired Up! Ready to Plagiarize!

On Thursday, John McCain's camp slammed Barack Obama's economic plan as a "shameless piece of potential plagiarism," but apparently they have no such scruples when it comes to ripping-off Obama's campaign slogan.

While on the lookout for a slogan more inspiring than McCain's previous "I'll give you something to cry about, you little bastards," slogan, McCain appropriated Obama's rally cry, "Fired up! Ready to go!" as the conclusion to his victory speech Tuesday night in Virginia, proclaiming, "My friends, I promise you, I am fired up and ready to go." This is not the first time one of Obama's rivals has tried to take over the phrase: Hillary Clinton busted it out just before the Iowa caucuses. It's just that good!

According to Obama, his campaign first started using the phrase in early 2007 after hearing it from a "tiny lady in a church hat" during a visit to Greenwood, South Carolina.

And while Obama's camp might think this is exactly what they meant in Bowfinger about the white man stealing all the best catch phrases, even some Obama backers think it makes more sense coming from McCain, a man who has lived his life in a perpetual state of fired up-ness. At one particularly dead moment at Obama's rally in Madison, Wisconsin, members of the advance team tried to engage the 16,000-person crowd in a chant of "Fired Up! Ready To Go!" One non-starry-eyed Obama supporter was overheard asking, "What the hell does that even mean?"
