Allison Bagley won a contest with Piperlime.com and got to design her own shoe. The Breeze can be found on the Web site for $395.

When the weather finally turns warmer and it's fashionably acceptable to relegate the tall boots back to the closet, Allison Bagley will have no qualms deciding what shoe to wear. She will slip her perfectly pedicured feet into a pair of red floral print, ankle strap platform heels that she designed.

Bagley is living many a woman's dream. The writer and shoe devotee won the opportunity of a lifetime designing a signature pair of shoes for Bettye Muller's Spring '08 collection because she entered a contest on Piperlime.com, a shoe shopping Web site. With her shoe's debut Friday, Bagley is looking forward to adding them to her collection of much-loved heels and boots.

Looking for last minute love in shopping places

Happy Valentine's Day! Since I am an old married lady and my anniversary is in March, we will spend the evening with our two girls over red-themed dishes and then give little gifts to each other during dessert. I like to give books, jewelry and small specialty gifts to those at my Valentine's table and there are plenty of places around town to pick up those forget-me-nots.

Sweet kisses come in small but delicious packages.

Ask any parent and they will agree, their children do not need another stuffed animal. I am partial to books and some of my favorite places for the written word that appeals to my girls are museum gifts shops. Personal faves include the series of books by Caroline Desnoettes that showcase the most popular paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts. Among the choices are Journeys and Colors. The hardback books are colorful and the paper is sturdy and perfect for little hands. The books are $17.95. Over at the Children's Museum the educational toys are actually fun and range from a couple of dollars to under $100. Spending time with the wee ones in your life is a gift for both of you. I like the pottery painting places (Glazed Over, Mad Potter) and the mix-your-own bath products (Bath Junkie, Naked Bath + Body) for fun and inexpensive outings with some heart.

Most women just want to be remembered and not with one of those lame chocolate roses covered in foil. It is often the little things that count and there are no shortage of ways to show you care. Love her lips with two sweet products. Philosophy's Candy Hearts lip gloss set contains three flavored shines (melon daiquiri, vanilla birthday cake, raspberry sorbet) and is $25 at Sephora. Prescriptives Custom Blend Lip Gloss is a personal nod to your loved one's lips. Choose from one of the base colors and then add your finish, sheen, pearl and even your flavor. Go to a Prescriptives counter to have it made in about 15 minutes. The gloss is $26.

If you are still searching for lingerie as a gift for yourself or the someone special in your life, The Glossy Apple in the Galleria area is a new lingerie spot that showcases all kinds of pretty, lacy things for every kind of mood. In midtown, Urban Sugarbaby is a Valentine's multi-tasking dream, offering beautiful lingerie for all kinds of body shapes, plus bath and beauty products.

Although men get a lot of pressure to wow the woman in his life, it's nice to give a little something to your special guy too. In the past I have given cuff links (Men's Resale by the Village, High Gloss) and glassware and a bottle of wine to my husband as gifts. Many men are techno/gadget lovers, but buying electronics is a bit tricky in my book, so I will hit Sharper Image or scour the racks at Tuesday Morning for totally unnecessary but fun electronic do-dads. Feed his love for chocolate at the Chocolate Bar or Raindrop Chocolate or satiate his sweet tooth at Sugar Baby Cupcake Boutique.

Even if you choose to make brownies from a box and a card from construction paper, it truly is the thought that counts. Just keep that in mind if your sweetheart hands you a gigantic satin box of chocolate today.
