Stoichkov: Real Madrid Have A Loser's Dynamic

Former Barcelona striker Hristo Stoichkov believes that Real Madrid are on a downward spiral, which will allow Barcelona access to the Liga title...

The former Bulgarian international legend boomed that Real Madrid have begun to slide, and that despite the input of the refereeing fraternity, Barcelona can take advantage.

"They have the dynamic of a losing team, which is very difficult to control. They can maintain a result, but can't launch a comeback.

"We shouldn't be worried about five points - we must just focus on winning matches.

"A month ago in Madrid they were already preparing the Cibeles and Castellana to celebrate the title. But looking at the victory in Zaragoza, Barça are back in the fight, raising the spirits.

"It's not a huge challenge, but we need to win all matches and for Madrid to lose some. But it's possible: Barcelona have the best squad, better players and are more effective than Madrid.

"Madrid, after losing two or three players, became losers."

Focusing his rant-beam on the Liga referees, he continued, "It's not true that referees help Barcelona. People in Madrid say that to distract people because they're afraid.

"Madridistas should stop worrying about referees and think instead of the meeting with Roma. It's a very important match for them, and they could go out.

"Barcelona will win the Liga, if only by one goal's difference."

  • 20.47 19 Feb 08 Matt Toronto, Canada The only reason Madrid has a betting site is because it is a business..it has its own stock which is what the members are for..Madrid have a tendency of winning big things so the people of Madrid capitalised on it just to pocket some extra cash. obviously Barcelona would be unable to follow this philosophy as they werent and arent as much of a winning team in the history of the game...
  • 19.42 19 Feb 08 blantonamera swissa Basically for Madrid there is nothing to cling to anymore. Five points is not enough. A win at the Bernabeu (we will certainly spill blood on your devilish white jerseys) by Barca and another slip up by Madrid and what are you gonna do, fire your coach?? Feel the pressure, feel the heat, you've just lost two away games. Digest it, consider it, and realize it. You are on a downward spiral. Snowballs pick up speed and mass as they pummel downhill. Have a fun ride!!
  • 19.30 19 Feb 08 andino usa Gentleman, first off, I only state the facts.. Secondly the season is far from over, if you would like to claim any sort of victory because you are leading by 5 points and you beat us in Camp Nou, then go ahead and wave your flag.. But realize that this is only temporary, so enjoy the moment.. Fact: At the end of the day you just lost two away games. To Vector: Could you please post something meaningful? You've said nothing! And to Jochi: The truth does hurt. Let's see where your at when it matters- the end of the season! Madrid has a gambling website on their jersey. Barca has a decent cause on their jersey. Quite a telling definition of class. And you are an Ultra Sur Viking? Go ahead, rape and pillage you well to do savage beast!

  • 13.22 19 Feb 08 Robert Monrovia It's easy for a madman to rave about seeing god when infact what he is seeing is his own picture when he was sane. Can't blame the old boy though. When u have lived in the shadow of your more illustrious companion, there is always a tinge of bitterness at the back of your throat. Keep on dreaming brother. When u wake up, we'll be waiting with a glass of the best wine at the Cibeles for u. All the way to the finish, Real Madrid, Munya Madrid, Munya, Adebele..... Wake Up!
  • 13.22 19 Feb 08 kelvin Port-Harcourt,Nigeria Mr Stoichkov has been a forgotten person for sometime now, even Barcelona has forgotten him, so he needs something to say to put him back in the spotlight. It's funny how he never spoke when Barcelona lost in the Nou camp and were trailing, all of a sudden he has a voice, ur a real Barca-loner and you will be a barca-looser in the end.
  • 13.02 19 Feb 08 Alexander St. Andrews, Scotland I understand what Stoichkov says in that Real seem to lose their nerve frequently and often can't capitalize when Barca drop points. Still, we did win 1-0 at the Camp Nou and 1-0 at the Vicente Calderon. Last season we came back from 3-1 down to beat Espanyol, 1-0 down to beat Sevilla, and 1-0 down on the last day to beat Mallorca. DOn't forget the second-last round when Real equalized in the last minute and Espanyol levelled against Barca seconds later. Whoever is in front is going to be nervous because they are both good teams, but the days of Barcelona's celestial football are over. Without an in-form Ronaldinho and with either Messi or Eto'o always injured, it's just not going to happen. Refereeing decisions do usually go to both of these teams. We just prefer not to see them when they do, only when they go against us. Finally, Stoichkov is an idiot - Real will win the title, and neither team is likely to win the Champions League this year. Barca still have to come to the Bernabeu where they lost 2-0 last year, while Real's remaining games against top opponents (Sevilla, Espanyol) are at home where we are 100% in La Liga. Hala Madrid!
  • 12.43 19 Feb 08 Nick G London, England What is it with Barca and Blabber-Mouths?? First it's Cruyff spouting garbage at every opportunity, and now Stoichkov has gotten on the band-wagon!! Maybe they aren't offering Basket-Weaving in the Barca Care-Home for Has-Beens anymore and they have to occupy their tiny minds inflicting inane dross on an unsuspecting public.
