Warmers (or 'ice-Breakers') are a great way to establish a good classroom atmosphere.

Find someone who

Put together a list of "find someone who ..." tasks and give a copy of the list to each student. The students have 2 minutes to walk around the room and find an answer to each question.

For example, find someone who...

...has lived abroad
...was born in the same month as you
...has didn't eat breakfast this morning
...likes playing tennis
...has seen a poisonous snake

Similarities

Put students into pairs, and allow the class 3 or 4 minutes to find out how much they have in common with their partner. Then each student should take turns to tell the rest of the class (for example, 'we both like tennis'; 'neither of us like shopping').
