Magellan Development Group, LLC

  is a recently formed corporate partnership culminating a long-term collaboration between Magellan Development Group and NNP Residential & Development, two of Chicago’s most accomplished and respected real estate organizations. 

Joel Carlins and James Loewenberg are co-chief executive officers of Magellan Development Group; David Carlins is president, and Robin Loewenberg Berger is chief marketing officer.  Magellan Development continues to steer all development activity, while the NNP Residential Division, led by Robin Loewenberg Berger as president, focuses on property management and marketing services.  All Magellan and NNP Residential affiliates, including Loewenberg Architects, Joel M. Carlins & Associates, Magellan Marketing Group, Magellan Realty, Titan Commercial and Perl Mortgage operate autonomously. 

With more than a century of combined experience and expertise, the merged companies are recognized among Chicago's most accomplished and respected real estate organizations. The zenith of their collaboration is the $4 billion, mixed-use Lakeshore East community, believed to be the largest parcel of downtown land under development in any major U.S. city.

Together, the two companies developed award-winning luxury rental communities including The Tides at Lakeshore East, The Shoreham at Lakeshore East, Grand Plaza, The Park Millennium, One Superior Place, and Dearborn Place.  Condominium developments at Lakeshore East include Aqua, The Parkhomes, The Chandler, 340 on the Park, The Regatta, and The Lancaster.  Other Lakeshore East developments include The Park at Lakeshore East and the Village Market retail center.  In addition, the two organizations independently developed hotels, retail, office and medical facilities throughout the United States. 

Magellan’s earlier portfolio spans from River North, Gold Coast and Near West Side neighborhoods.  Condominium developments include The Park Alexandria, The Caravel, Admiral’s Pointe, The Farallon, 630 North State, 21 West Chestnut, and The Park Newberry Residences.  Magellan supplements its development activity with in-house services including construction management, law, brokerage, sales and marketing and public relations.

NNP’s portfolio of developments include State Place Condominiums as well as luxury apartment developments such as One East Delaware, 2555 North Clark, Gold Coast Galleria, Landmark on the Lake in Milwaukee, 1212 North LaSalle and Ontario Place.  NNP has been involved in the creation of a vast portfolio of multifamily and single family homes and more than one million square feet of industrial space.  NNP currently manages many premier apartment and condominium communities in Chicago including The Shoreham at Lakeshore East, Grand Plaza West Tower, 2555 North Clark Street, Left Bank at K Station, The Chandler at Lakeshore East, and 200 North Jefferson.

Crain’s Chicago Business has recently named Magellan Development Group LLC one of Chicago’s top 5 “Largest Homebuilders” in 2007 in addition to naming Magellan as number 113 in the list of “Chicago’s Largest Privately Held Companies”.
