It was a lovely coincidence that on the same day that we had egg decorating artist Marina Degtjarewsky as our guest, out of my Shoebox I pulled an egg from Molina Yassitz of Montpelier, Vt. However, unlike Marina's eggs, which were real, Molina's was constructed entirely of paper. Molina's egg was quilled . . . an art form that goes back hundreds of years, and that we did several segments on some time ago. Molina stated that she has been quilling for years because she loves to do it. And, as if the egg were not enough, she sent along a beautifully decorated photo mat done in many gorgeous colors and featuring dozens of tiny flowers that she had quilled. It was so wonderfully colorful that I felt it should have an uncolored photo in it. Thus, I found it a perfect background for the sepia photo of my mother, which was taken when she was a little girl of eleven.

Next out of the Shoebox was a good modern day crafting tip from Linda Flynn, who says that baby towelettes are handy to keep in your craft room. When you get all that "stuff" all over your hands, and as any crafter knows, there is always "stuff" to get all over your hands, these pre-moistened towels are the best. Linda thought that if you did not have a baby on the premises, you might not be aware of this product's dandy cleaning qualities. Now we know. Linda also added that if it's shorts-wearing weather, after wiping her hands, she rubs the towels on her legs. A beauty routine while you're crafting.
