Laurel Canyon 1911.JPG

This just in from the canyon elders….

The Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority approved agenda item XI at their meeting yesterday afternoon, approving funds to option the vacant lots at the SW corner of Mulholland and Laurel Canyon as a first step towards purchase.

Many, many thanks to the dozens of you who, with only last minute notice, e-mailed and FAXED the MRCA Governing Board with your opinions regarding this endeavor. We’ve been told that our community’s strong response helped push this forward, so congrats to all of you.

This is obviously only the beginning of the effort to acquire this open space, as funds for the full purchase price have to be raised, but it’s a great first step.

Translation: More classic canyon (top), less development (above).

Notice to canyon-dwelling movie, television and recording-industry zillionaires: get out your freaking checkbooks when the time comes to fund this fine endeavor.
