WVU game moved to a Thursday

Colorado announced several anticipated tweaks to its 2008 nonconference football schedule Monday, including moving its first-ever meeting with West Virginia to a Thursday night in Folsom Field.

The Sept. 18 contest against the Mountaineers will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. It will be only the second Thursday night game in Folsom Field history. The Buffs hosted Stanford on a Thursday night in 1990.

"This is an honor to be selected, and it will be a great showcase for the entire university," athletic director Mike Bohn said. "I'm especially appreciative of our campus constituents working with us to make it possible. We recognize that there will be some inconveniences, and ESPN has accommodated us with a later than usual kickoff for that night to help solve some of the traffic and parking issues."

The Buffs will kickoff the season in Denver against Colorado State on Aug.30, but a start time and television deal have not been finalized. The Buffs will host their first home game Sept. 6 against Eastern Washington. That game is expected to begin at 1:30 because it is unlikely to be televised.

CU finishes the nonconference portion of its schedule against Florida State at a neutral site in Jacksonville on Sept. 27.

CU was in the top 10 for the most televised games nationally in 2007 with 11 appearances, including a school-record nine national games.

"These are opportunities to feature the outstanding elements of CU and Boulder," Bohn added.

ESPN and Fox Sports Net reached an agreement to subcontract several games to the former, which will televise seven games in each of the next two seasons. In addition to selecting the CU-WVU game, ESPN also will televise the Texas-Texas A&M; on Thanksgiving Day. The seven games each year will either be Thursday or Saturday games.

Can't wait... can't wait... can't wait.

Another great game that will be a National televised game. And this date gives the team a week and a half to prep for WVU and 9 days for FSU.

Good job with the schedule Bohn.

Marcus J

PS, not worried about which FSU players get to play or not, (suspensions) the Buffs are going to beat FSU regardless who they play or don't play.

I 2 can't wait to see Darrell Scott go for 150 Yards Rush/Receiving... It will be his 3rd game and hopefully finding his way in College Ball.

Cody will be much better this year as well, now that our Rushing Game will open up alot of Plays for attack.

I has more to do with the Big Uglies than just having a running game. Luckily we should have a good set of both. :-)

Good times are coming soon for Buff Nation!

The other good news yesterday was the ESPN announcement that the Texas/Texas A&M game was moving to Thanksgiving day. Anyone else tired of CU/Nebraska games kicking off at 10:00 a.m.? At least the change of the UT/A&M game should put the Nebraska game kickoff at a reasonable hour.

Awesome national spotlight for what should be a big game, especially if Scott is lighting things up (and Polk and Lockridge too) at that time. Great regional draw for such a game too. Awesome. Now we just have to be a good team!

AMEN to that. That was total bs kicking off the CU/NU game at 10:00 am.

ESPN ranks CU 8th in the Big 12 behind the Fuskers? See http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story... It says that they can make it to the championship game "If linebacker Michael Sipili fills the void left by Jordon Dizon and Scott has a Herschel Walker-like freshman season."

The rankings are already coming out for next year? No waiting for actual enrollment or even injury reports from spring ball, new depths chart or any other varible that can occur in the next 6 months? WOW those guys that do these rankings must be good... NOT!

HaHaHa... I guess that's half the fun, everybody debating their teams standings before the season even begins.

I actually have to think at my job. Many times I get a little mental fatigue. I think I'll apply for employment over at espn or sports illustrated.
Their rankings must reflect their impression of the quality of the program's free lunch.
Seriously, with the exception of mizzou its all name recognition again. They probably think they are riverboat gamblers on that one.
How else do you continually think A&M and Tech have a chance? Why are the fuskers ranked over us after last season?
Actually its sound economic prinicples. they sell more in those markets. Dont tell the fans at TX and OU they are being pimped.

Check out this blurb in the L.A. Times: The cyber-ink was barely dry on the final post at DumpDorrell.com, a website dedicated to ousting former UCLA football Coach Karl Dorrell, before news arrived that FireRickNeuheisel.com was for sale. The domain is currently owned by a man named Mike Burger, who has written on the site that it is for sale to anyone who:

* Donates $75,000 to the Colorado general scholarship fund.

* Donates $75,000 to the Washington Scholarships for Students program.

* Donates $100,000 to Teach for America.

CU needs some $. Come on Extrapoint, Montanabuff, et al. Ante up for a website that will be sure to bring in some dollars when the Slick Rick rumors of him leaving UCLA or recruiting infractions start to heat-up.

HAHAHAHA. do you guys not know how the CU/Nebraska games are scheduled? for two years CU/Nebraska play at 10:00, and texas texas A&M play after that. then for the next two years the two teams swich spots in the time. so in the 2009 season it would be swiched back to to the later game, and would go through the 2010 season. But your right in the fact that we can hope that the game will be pushed to a later time this season because of the thankgiving day game. but it who cares just as long as we kick the snot out of them. Just an FYI

There is no chance NU is going to have a good season. Poo-lini's first season ever as a head coach, chaos from last season.. I look for them to be a mix of CU 2006 and Notre Dame 2007, except gay-er.
