Trent Hunter scored off a faceoff in overtime and the New York Islanders recovered after blowing a three-goal lead to beat the slumping Atlanta Thrashers 5-4 on Thursday night. Josef Vasicek gained control of the puck following the faceoff and passed to Hunter, who scored from the slot at 3:51 to give the Thrashers their fifth straight loss.

Price era begins with win over Atlanta

Just hours after surviving the NHL trade deadline, Chris Higgins had two goals and an assist as the Montreal Canadiens exploded for four goals in less than seven minutes in the third period en route to a 5-1 win over the Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday.

Penguins land Hossa from Thrashers

The Atlanta Thrashers have traded sniper Marian Hossa and winger Pascal Dupuis to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for prospect Angelo Esposito, forwards Colby Armstrong and Erik Christensen and a first-round pick.
