Blog in Mac (and ftp tool tip)

I just had to make a blog post from our new home computer, a wonderful 24inch iMac. I have just hardly started to use it, and this is my first ever mac, but I really love how smooth everything is. Installing new programs, setting up wireless network, etc.. it's all so.. well smooth (to repeat myself).

Also, I wanted to make a small update to the code of my blog, and needed a FTP client. I Googled around, and came upon Cyberduck. And this is a really smooth (there I used that word again - I suspect I will be using it a lot on this machine) FTP client. I really liked it. And it's open sourse and shareware. And also it supports SFTP (which we use in work).

I've not yet done any development on this machine, so I'll get back to what I think about mac as a development platform.

welcome to the 'light side' :)

There's so many incredible tools for the mac that are free or cheap. Enjoy!

I have used Macs for many years and used many different FTP tools. Transmit by Panic (http://www.panic.com). You do have to pay for it but its cheap, and updates are almost always free. If you want "smooth" look at Transmit.

Hi Trond. Cyberduck is pretty cool and lightweight and well worth if for quick FTP'ing. But +1 to Phill's comments on Transmit for your heavy FTP'ing, well worth the little money it costs.

Also if you are looking out for a free text editor look up Smultron. Actually just check out http://flernk.blogspot.com/2006/07/guide-to-os-x-s...

@John: Thanx

@Dave: Thanx a lot for the link. I'm sure it will come in very handy.

@Phil & Andy: Transfer looks good, but Cyberduck does what I want it to do (at least so far), and does it for free. So for now I'll stick to it :)

@Andy: Funny that you should mention Smultron. When I edited the .cfm file for my blog yesterday I just used TextEdit (that comes with OSX) and it worked nicely for that little edit I did (remove the CFDevCon banner - about time eh?). However since I was at it I decided to edit a htm file for the ulseth.no main page, and in TextEdit it came up as some really bad looking WYSIWYG attempt. So I went to your blog, followed it to that blog you're mentioning again here, and.... went on to download Smultron! I thought I'd post a small tool tip mentioning it, but did not get around to it (it was getting late).

You should really check out MacFuse from the good folks at Google (http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/). I love it because you can actually mount SFTP, FTP, NTFS, WebDAV, and a few other file systems, as drives making access to the remote system almost transparent. In my work flow it's even done pretty good at moving lots of files around.
