Blog: Chicago looking to drum up business

2/25/2008

Contrary to reports, sources tell TSN that Rob Blake has not waived his no-trade clause. In fact, sources say Blake has told the Kings he does not want to be traded. If, however, the Kings are intent on presenting Blake with a proposal, sources say it will have to be to go to Colorado and would have to be significant enough for the Kings to incur the wrath of Blake, who made it plainly clear to the Kings he prefers to stay in L.A.

Chicago is trying to drum up business for the trade deadline. The Hawks sent teams an e-mail Monday night indicating eight players are available. The list includes:

Nikolai Khabibulin
Martin Havlat
Robert Lang
Tuomo Ruutu
Marty Lapointe
Yanic Perrault
Andrei Zyuzin
Rene Bourque

Ottawa and Montreal are the frontrunners for Marian Hossa. Ottawa's package is said to include Antoine Vermette. Some believe Chris Higgins is the centrepiece of the Montreal deal but it may be that the Canadiens could get the deal done with prospects and draft picks.

San Jose is said to be making a hard run at Buffalo's Brian Campbell and also Toronto's Pavel Kubina.

If Adam Foote doesn't re-sign with Columbus, the only place he is likely interested in moving before the deadline is Colorado, his former team. But Foote wants to finalize a new deal in Columbus, but the money has to be right.
