Members of the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design (AAGAD) are published game designers, writers, artists, and other game creators. Any person with a verifiable published credit for writing, design, sculpting, illustration, graphic design, editing, line development, or brand management in three or more gaming products is eligible for admission to the Academy. The Academy is a committee of the Game Manufacturer’s Association (GAMA), and the Chair of the Academy is appointed by GAMA’s president. The Academy’s principal mission is the administration the Origins Awards.

Every fall, publishers and creators submit their best products from the past year as eligible in a large variety of categories. The members of the Academy then vote on which products should be named Origins Award Nominees. The top five vote-getters in each college are placed on the final ballot.

Award Submissions Traveling Road Show

The Academy of Adventure Gaming, Arts, and Design (AAGAD) has found a new way to present your games to the public and the Origins Awards Jurors! It’s the Origins Award Submissions “traveling road show.”

The AAGAD will solicit different conventions, large and small, all over the country to provide us a room where Origins Awards submissions can be taught and played by Jurors and the public. It’s the perfect opportunity to get your new games out there in the public eye and to ensure that they will be played by the people voting on the nominees and ultimately the winners at Origins 2008.

The first opportunity will be at UCON in Ann Arbor, Michigan November 9-11. They have prepared a special Origins Award Game Room nothing but Origins Awards Submissions (for games that have been produced in 2007 and submitted to the AAGAD for consideration) will be displayed and played. And it’s a great opportunity for you to get your games noticed for the upcoming Holiday gift season!

In addition, there will be a Podcaster present in the room, focusing on the games being played in the Origins Award Game Room at UCON. The presence of the popular on-line press will expand your games’ exposure nationwide!

It is our hope that other conventions all over the country will be able to work with the AAGAD and our Jurors during the months of December, January, February, March and right up through GAMA Trade Show in April where there will be rooms for Origins Awards Submissions to be played.

So what do we need from you?  If you wish to participate in this ground-breaking event, we need to have your games submitted online by filling out the Submission Form and 7 copies of each game you are submitting delivered to the GAMA office NO LATER THAN October 26, 2007.

33rd Origins Awards Winners Announced
By minion - 7/9/2007 The 33rd Annual Origins Awards ceremony was held on Saturday, July 7 at the 2007 Origins International Games Expo. The event was a great success. This year the awards were determined a little differently in that we allowed the attendees of Origins to vote on who won awards by passing out ballots at the show. Next year we hope to continue this process and get even more people to vote. The Academy would like to thank all of those attendees who voted this year. We will see you again next year with a whole new set of Nominees.
