Marc Savard of the Boston Bruins scored a late goal to give the East team the edge in the 2008 NHL All-Star game. The Carolina Hurricanes' Eric Staal had two goals and an assist and was named Most Valuable Player.

Stat of the Day
The San Jose Sharks beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 on Friday night and tied a team record with their eighth straight victory. The streak equals the team's run from April 3-15, 2006. San Jose also won its sixth straight on the road, tying a team high. The Sharks have the NHL's best road record at 23-8-3.
