ESPN's Take
It would seem simplistic to attribute a team's entire turnaround to one player, but sometimes the game isn't that complicated.

A.J. Price's ability to become the player Jim Calhoun recruited, the savvy scoring point guard out of Amityville, N.Y., is at the core of the Huskies' resurgence. Sidelined for two years with a heart ailment and a suspension, Price struggled miserably a year ago. Now stronger and wiser, he is averaging 14.7 points, but more importantly is dishing out six assists to two turnovers per game.

That Price doesn't have to go at it alone helps. Jeff Adrien, Stanley Robinson and Hasheem Thabeet all average double figures and Thabeet's growth from shot blocker to player has made the Huskies as formidable in the paint as when Emeka Okafor lived there. Thabeet is third in the nation with 4.5 rejections per game, and he's also notched seven double-doubles this season.

Mix in Adrien, who has 16 double-doubles this year, and the Huskies are a beast to handle underneath the hoop.

Connecticut cooled off from their late-January, 10-game winning streak, losing two of its final five, but will be a tough out in the NCAAs. Calhoun's teams always play tough defense, and this crew is no different, holding opponents to 38.2 percent from the floor.
