COMING UP: Live, from onboard the biggest plane ever!
THE A380: Don't point that thing at me/by Andrew Hunt, Singapore Airlines
Residents of outer Queens and southwestern Nassau, if you happen to look up around 1230pm EST and see a plane that just looks, well, more rotund than usual, don't fret - that's just the Airbus A380 coming in for a landing at JFK, where there will be a big show n' tell this afternoon.
The party's being thrown at Terminal 1, with your lovely hostess Lufthansa. The airline plans to start sending their very own Big Bird airborne in about two years.
Say what, you say? That's right - they're not going to be the first. That honor goes to Singapore Airlines, which told us last week they were aiming for a late summer/early fall launch of the craft between its home hub, Sydney and London. We'll be on that flight (but of course), but for now, tune in to the blog this evening and tomorrow for a look at life on board the test plane (with sexy pictures!) courtesy of our Chris Bunting.
