Imagine attending a college where sports and fitness are a big part of campus life. Then the state-of-the-art William H. Pitt Health and Recreation Center at Sacred Heart University is the answer to your dreams. This facility provides a safe and comfortable environment for you to meet new people, get in shape, and have fun.

The $17.5 million Pitt Center, which opened in August 1997, serves as the home court for both our men's and women's basketball and volleyball programs, as well as our wrestling program. The three-level, 141,000 square-foot complex features a four-court layout and seats over 2,000 people for basketball.

The main level of the center houses 4,500 square feet of clinical space dedicated to the Sacred Heart University Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center. Contained in this space are examination rooms, faculty offices, and therapy labs as well as a physical therapy clinic.

The Pitt Center's lower level boasts both an aerobics room and a 5,000-plus square-foot weight training facility, which includes both cardiovascular equipment and free weights. Locker rooms for our athletic teams and our members are also located on the lower level. It also contains the Pioneer Wrestling Room for our wrestling team and the basketball, football and athletic training offices.

The upper level of the Pitt Center contains the Department of Athletics suite of offices and the Board Room, which serves as a meeting room for the University´┐Żs Board of Trustees and for other on-campus groups. During the past three years, the Pitt Center has hosted numerous events, including the 1998 U.S. Open professional bowling championships, and summer basketball camps led by such NBA stars as Vin Baker, Allan Houston, Charles Smith and Charlie Ward.

The Pitt Center is open at convenient times to fit your schedule and is easily accessible for most area residents. For more information and to find out how you can become a member, call Operations Manager Gary Reho at (203) 365-7533.
