*Use this list with caution. This list was created by the Celiac Disease On-Line Support Group members. This list was compiled from group members calling on products which have no ADDED Gluten. However, they have been removed from the safe list because their has either been obvious evidence of contamination in a product or because the manufacturer states that contamination is likely and/or sensitive celiacs may react to the product. If you find other products that should be moved to the Contamination page, please post a correction on my message board immediately in order for me to make corrections to this page. Hunts Ketchup (After seeing the trouble with spaghetti sauces, I am no longer hesistant to list the ketchup as contaminated as well. I personally had gluten reactions from using this product for a period of three days. I recommend that you use Del Monte - if my grocer hadn't stopped carrying Del Monte I never would have switched! Luckily, my other grocer will now carry Del Monte for me. I have never gotten a reaction from Del Monte ketchup and I highly recommend it. In addition, I believe Heinz to be contaminated as well. So I recommend that Heinz ketchup be avoided by celiacs.)

Explanation on: Heinz Sweet Relish, Heinz Ketchup, and White Distilled Vinegar

Here is a posting I made on the Heinz website: "Could the Manager of Quality Control please answer the following question. Which of the following Heinz vinegars don't involve the use of wheat, rye, oats, or barley whatsoever? Apple Cider, Apple Cider Flavored, Malt, Wine, Salad, Tarragon, Garlic Wine, Distilled White, Concentrated Distilled White. Also, which ones are made on the same equipment?"

Here is their response:

Dear Abigail, Thank you for visiting the Heinz website. I apologize for the delay in my response. Heinz Distilled White, Apple Cider and Red Wine Vinegars are the only Heinz Vinegars that we can confirm are free of wheat, rye, oats or barley. While we cannot confirm equipment usage at the manufacturing facilities, please be assured that thorough clean-up practices are in effect and in full compliance of all applicable regulatory agencies.

Thanks again for contacting us. I hope this information is helpful to you.
