Antonio Perkins, a fourth-round pick by the Browns in 2005, was among four players released by the club Thursday on the final day of full-squad minicamp.
Perkins appeared insix games for the Browns during two seasons in the NFL, including five in '06. During those games he managed a pair of special teams tackles and returned 3 kicks for 82 yards.
Fullback Alan Ricard also was among those released Thursday. The former Baltimore Raven signed with the Browns on April 16 after spending the '06 season out of football.
Ricard was the lead blocker for now-Browns running back Jamal Lewis during his 2,066-yard season for the Ravens in 2003, but has appeared in only a pair of games during the past two NFL seasons.
The team had hoped to reunite Ricard with Lewis in the Browns backfield in '07. Now, the club will depend on '06 sixth-round pick Lawrence Vickers at the position, as well as promising rookie Charles Ali.
Rookie free agent offensive linemen Brent Pousson (McNeese State) and Scott Stephenson (Iowa State) also were released.
