Browns sign Scott Player

Zac Jackson, Staff Writer

In caseDave Zastudil can't punt Sunday in Oakland, the Browns have added an experienced insurance policy.
The Browns signed 10-year NFL veteran Scott Player Tuesday. Player punted for the Cardinals the lastnine years before he was waived by Arizona last month.
He's the Cardinals' all-time leader in punts (714), yards (30,752) and punts downed inside the 20 (179), and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2000.
Zastudil punted last week, but he's been battling soreness caused by a strained oblique. Paul Ernster, who punted in Week One, was waived.
Player, 37, punted in the CFL and World League before making the Cardinals team as a 28-year old rookie in 1998.
