Whatever Happened To Ruth Ashton Taylor?
LOS ANGELES (CBS) ―
Paul Magers caught up recently with Ruth Ashton Taylor, the first TV newswoman in Los Angeles.
A pioneer in a business that sometimes closed the door on women, Ruth Ashton Taylor broke open doors and broke the glass ceiling long before the phrase was coined. She was hired at a time when women didn't get hired because some in management she says now thought women had "squeaky voices."
Ruth Ashton Taylor worked for more than 50 years beginning her career in 1944. She was equally at home interviewing presidents, politicians, pundits and pranksters.
Her voice is still going strong and she tells Paul Magers how she keeps herself busy these days.
