2008 SDC Window2008 Student Design Competition: WINROBO
Many homeowners, particularly those with mobility problems which keep them confined to a wheel chair, often have difficulty cleaning windows in their home. Being able to clean the outside of the window automatically should provide a safety benefit to all homemakers, particularly those with older upper floor windows to clean. The 2008 competition challenges student teams to design, build, and demonstrate a robot which will wash a residential double-hung sash window autonomously, that is, without human intervention beyond placing the robot on the lowest window pane and turning it on, or under remote control of an operator “inside” the “building”.  Click here to view the 2008 Design Problem details.

Competition Guidelines.

Teams compete annually at district Student Professional Development Conferences. Teams that place first are invited to participate in an international competition held at ASME's International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE).  Visit http://districts.asme.org/SPDC/ for complete details on the Student Professional Development Conferences.
