Consequences
To play consequences, give each student a pencil and an A4 piece of paper. Then tell the students to write down certain pieces of information (see below), and each time they have done so get them to fold over the top of the page, to conceal what has been written, and pass on the paper to the next student. Gradually the pieces of information build up a story, and at the end of the game all the stories are read out.
Traditionally the following pieces of information are asked for, but you may amend these.
- An adjective
- A girl's name
- The word "Met" plus an adjective
- A man's name
- The word "at" plus details of where they met
- When they met
- The words "He said to her" followed by what he said
- The words "She said to him" followed by what she said
- What he then did
- What he then did
- The words "And the consequence was" plus details of the consequence
Nation game
Students are given 3 minutes to list as many words as they can that end with 'nation'. For example: donation, termination, and so on. The person with the most correct words is the winner.
Word endings
Arrange the students into small groups. Prepare a list of word endings, like the ones below, and pass a copy of the list to each group. The groups then have to race to find one word for each word ending.
Some example word endings: -don, -ppy, -per, -mum, -tle, -ing, -end.
