ESPN's Take
Portland State's season was one of big firsts. The program, which has only competed at the Division I level since the 1996-97 season, enjoyed its first-ever season with 20 or more victories (a 23-9 overall record) and its first winning road record (8-7). Far more importantly, the Vikings will make their initial voyage to the Big Dance. Three years after PSU won the 2004-05 regular-season title and couldn't finish the job in the Big Sky tourney, former Washington assistant Ken Bone led the team to a 14-2 league record and a double championship.

The Vikings ride into the NCAA's on a 14-game conference win streak. After a 73-68 road loss at defending champion Weber State on Jan. 10, Portland State didn't lose another Big Sky game, sealing its dominance with a dominating 108-56 victory at Montana on March 1. The Vikings' offense was explosive in league play (80.3 ppg), and was engineered by sophomore point guard Jeremiah Dominguez (14.3 ppg, 4.1 apg, 44 percent 3-point shooting), the league's Player of the Year. Despite his 5-foot-6 frame, he has enough energy to power the entire Rose City. Holding down the post is 6-foot-11 senior Scott Morrison (10.6 ppg, 5.9 rpg), the Big Sky's blocks leader with 1.6 per game. Senior Deonte Huff (13.9 ppg) is a dynamic 6-foot-4 swingman who led the team in scoring in both conference tourney games.
