NEW RELEASE: Band Of Horses "Is There A Ghost"

Band OfHorses Imagine a fable in which a girl is in search of the perfect pillow and will stop at nothing to get it. She sneaks into your bedroom and gently nudges you aside, swiping the pillow and throwing it into a massive bag to drag home. But, she doesn't find any of these pillows all that comfortable and she tosses and turns and tries pillow after pillow. So, she goes to get more and realizes that all her victims are on the prowl looking to steal pillows for themselves. Thus begins an epic pillow fight and the savagery —it's actually not very savage, but it's a fable, so go along with it — well, the savagery makes her realize that there might be another way to find comfort for herself and it might have nothing to do with a cushioned place to lay her head, but rather ensuring the comfort of another. And that, is a beautiful thing. As is this gem of a song by Band Of Horses. --> watch "Is There A Ghost"

NEW RELEASE: Chromeo "Bonafied Lovin"

bonafiedlovin "I want my MTV!" were the words artists once shouted when they wanted their videos aired on MTV. Nowadays you've got to take a more diverse approach if you want to get on the air. R&B synth-pop heroes Chromeo have already set up a pretty tight gameplan. First: get featured in MTV's Artist of the Week campaign, which puts you in all of the channel's on-air promos for one week. Second: Hire director Nima Nourizadeh to do an homage to Dire Straits classic "Money For Nothing" in all of its blocky, computer-animated glory. Third: Sit back and watch your video get added to MTV's line-up. Damn, you guys make it look easy. (review by Kevin Holy) --> watch "Bonafied Livin"

NEW RELEASE: Alter Bridge "Rise Today"

AlterBridge Alter Bridge, as you may or may not know or care, is basically Creed without Scott Stapp and all those histrionics. As such, the sound of "Rise Today" is pretty darn straightforward hard rock and the video is an equally polished, yet also no-frills clip. Director Dale "Rage" Resteghini — who's recently been on a hip-hop tear, most notably with the omnipresent Crank Dat Soulja Boy video — returns to his rock roots with a multitude of film stocks, lighting flares and edit effects to enliven the band's bare bones performance. --> watch "Rise Today"

NEW RELEASE: The Hives "Tick Tick Boom"

packedloaded Rock n' Roll ain't meant to be a museum piece. It might be art, but it's also controlled chaos and destruction and, ideally, an affront to any reputable organization. Johnny Rotten and The Sex Pistols get it and so do The Hives. This high concept video imagines these garage rocking Swedes as a massive museum installation, meant to be admired and puzzled over alongside other modernist works. Great concept made even better by the band's destructive tendencies. They quickly break loose from their bonds and unleash some explosive mayhem on the museum and its precious little items and gawking bores. --> watch "Tick Tick Boom" (flash)

NEW RELEASE: Simian Mobile Disco "Hustler"

hotnasty This is the new Simian Mobile Disco video, step by step. Start with hot skinny model babes shaking their wares. Switch to similarly lustful portraiture shots of high fat foodstuffs like Twinkies, fried chicken, hot dogs and fries. Return to the babes and have them engorge themselves with said foodstuffs. They're gluttonous. And not just for food, of course, but also for charge cards and cold hard cash. Things get nasty, real nasty. Aphex Twin nasty, in fact. In the end the gals have become projectile vomiting beasts, writhing around and preening in their own bile. In other words: Sorry Britney, but this is the sexiest video of the year. --> watch "Hustler"

NEW RELEASE: Modest Mouse "Invisible"

Footbag Everybody Hurts. Sometimes. While that's what the this Modest Mouse video hints at with its opening scene of a disconsolate man exiting his car during an interminable traffic jam, this video is anything but maudlin. Instead, our hero disrobes to his shorts and begins to hacky sack that pain away. The fun continues through a few more locations  where, as befits the song title, he's basically ignored. --> watch "Invisible"

NEW RELEASE: Obie Trice f/ Saigon "Wanna Know"

BeforeAfter Although none of the Entourage players — not even Saigon's fictional TV manager Turtle — show up in this video tie-in with the hit HBO series, the Artificial Army production crew deliver a solid recreation of the show's opening montage of a convertible cruise down a facsimile of the Sunset Strip. Saigon is behind the wheel with Obie Trice next to him and a gaggle of babes in the rear. Everything looks sharper and a whole lot cleaner than the real Strip, thanks to taking an entirely green screen approach to the video. --> watch "Since They Wanna Know (remix)"
